INTERVIEW
Playground@Landscape: Im Jahr 1977 entdeckte
Verbesserungsprozess stattgefunden. Die Qualität einer
Kopie ist immer besser geworden. Nicht zuletzt auch mit Un-
Playground@Landscape: In 1977, Professor Rido Busse –
designer and founder of busse design ulm – discovered an exact
plagiarization of the pair of letter/diet scales 8600 that he had
designed for Soehnle on the stand of a manufacturer from Hong
Kong at the ‘Ambiente’ trade fair in Frankfurt – on offer at 1/6
of the original price but in a substantially lower quality.
“Mr. Steinhanses, how do you view this incident today,
more than 30 years later?”
Stefan Steinhanses: There are still people looking to copy good products
today. The difference is that you can expect a lot less problems today
than it was the case a few years ago. Asia has also seen a continual
process of improvement. The quality of copies has steadily increased.
This is also because of support from European industries, which were
not careful enough with the distribution of licences in Asia. What’s the
saying? “Spirits that I’ve cited…”. An Asian once told me that we
should feel honoured if our products are copied because only high
quality products are plagiarized. This philosophy does not help us as
manufacturers if we are continuing to produce the original – under high
Playcom – Components for Spring Riders
An Interview with Stefan Steinhanses, Sales Division Manager at Heinrich Eibach GmbH.
P@L: Die Heinrich Eibach GmbH besitzt also die Kompetenz
in Sachen Federungstechnik?
quality specifications - in our country and trying to secure jobs with the
sale of these products.
P@L: So Heinrich Eibach GmbH has the spring technology
expertise?
Stefan Steinhanses: With the establishment in Germany in 1951
Heinrich Eibach laid the foundation for the global Eibach Group we
know today. Following his sudden and early death in 1967 his son Wilfried
took over the company and made it what it is today. In the last
few years, Wilfried’s son Ralph Heinrich and daughter Swantje have
become the third generation to manage the company. Today, Eibach has
its own production facilities and | or engineering- and distribution companies
in Germany, the USA, England, Japan, Australia, South Africa
and China. Beyond that we now have customers in over 80 countries.
We can truly say that Eibach has a global reputation as the leading
manufacturer of high quality Performance Suspension Springs and –
Systems as well as Hi-Tech Industrial Springs. Approximately 270 employees
at our location in Finnentrop produce springs and spring sys-
