Eine Antwort können innovative Spielräume sein. Die
natürlichen Spielräume der Kinder verändern sich. Es gibt
kaum mehr innerstädtische Bereiche, in denen Kinder
natürliche Spielräume vorfinden. Stattdessen organisieren
Erwachsene eine künstlich ausgestattete Spielwelt
für Kinder. Dies sind vor allem funktionsbezogene
Spielplätze, die durch ihre
Strukturierung häufig gerade nicht
kindliche Phantasie und kreative
Tätigkeit anregen. In diesem
Zusammenhang kommt bei der
Gestaltung der Spielplätze der
Mitwirkung der Bewohner
eine große Bedeutung zu.
Eine Reihe von Wohnungsunternehmen
verfügt auf
diesem Gebiet über umfangreiche
Erfahrungen.
Spielräume sind in der Zukunft
nicht nur für Kinder und
Jugendliche ein „Muss“. Vielmehr
müssen sich die Wohnungsunternehmen
nach der Studie
„Wohntrends 2020“ auch darauf einstellen,
Spielräume für Erwachsene und Senioren
anbieten zu müssen. Untersuchungen zeigen,
dass sich vor allem ältere und alte Menschen immer
mehr und länger in ihrer Wohnung und damit ihrem
Wohnumfeld aufhalten. So haben Wohnungsunternehmen
speziell für demenzerkrankte Menschen Themengär-

Innovative playing areas could be one answer. Children’s natural playing
areas are changing. Inner-city areas with natural playing areas for children
are hard to find. Instead, adults set up an artificially equipped world
for the children to play in. These are above all function-oriented playgrounds
which are often not structured to stimulate a child’s fantasy and
creative activity. In this context, the residents’ involvement in the design
of the playgrounds is very important. A number of housing companies
have extensive experience in this field.

gehören 446 Wohnungsunternehmen
an, die
rund 1,1 Millionen Wohnungen
in Nordrhein-Westfalen
und zu einem kleinen Teil in
Rheinland-Pfalz bewirtschaften.
Etwa jede vierte Mietwohnung in
Nordrhein-Westfalen wird von einem
der Mitgliedsunternehmen unseres
Verbandes bewirtschaftet. Sie investieren
jährlich rund zwei Milliarden
Euro in die Modernisierung, Instandhaltung
und in den Neubau von Wohnungen. Damit sichert die
Wohnungswirtschaft Tausende von Arbeitsplätzen, insbesondere
in der mittelständischen Wirtschaft und im Handwerk
vor Ort – also auch in den Garten- und Landschaftsbaubetrieben.

and senior citizens as well. Studies show that elderly people and old
people spend more and more time in their home and thus in their
living environment. Housing companies have therefore created
theme parks especially for people with dementia, to stimulate their
sense of smell and taste, for instance.
The Landesgartenschau 2008 [regional garden show] in Rietberg set
an outstanding example in respect of spatial designs with hardly
any or no barriers. This regional garden show was the first to receive
the “DIN tested barrier-free” certification, including playgrounds
catering for the disabled.
The Verband der Wohnungs- und Immobilienwirtschaft Rheinland
Westfalen e.V., Düsseldorf, has 446 housing companies as members,
controlling about 1.1 million apartments in North Rhine-
Westphalia and to a lesser degree in the Rhineland-Palatinate.
Approximately one in four rental units in North Rhine-Westphalia
is managed by one of the member companies of our association.
They invest about two billion Euro annually in refurbishment,
maintenance and new housing. The housing industry thereby
secures thousands of jobs, especially in medium-sized businesses
and for local artisans – thus also in the gardening and agricultural
sectors.
