49,000 Euros for UNICEF at the
BMW Golf Cup Final
The Fancourt Golf Resort on the beautiful Garden Route in
South Africa was the venue for the 33rd BMW Golf Cup World
Final at the beginning of March. True to the motto of the largest
international tournament series for golf amateurs »Once in a lifetime«
Fancourt provided the perfect setting for a unique sporting
and social experience. In around 1,000 tournaments around the
world, golfers qualified for the world final. With their sporting performance,
the world finalists were also able to do something for a
good cause, as the BMW Group supports UNICEF for its work
in crisis areas with 1,000 euros for every net eagle during the
tournament. The BMW Group's commitment to education in golf
is based on the motto »Eagles for Education« and was launched
last year at the traditional DP World Tour tournament BMW
International Open at the company's headquarters in Munich.
The team from Mexico won the Nations Cup at the BMW Golf
Cup Final 2023 ahead of Team Vietnam and Team Italy. Over
the course of the tournament, 49 eagles were also played, meaning
that the BMW Group supported UNICEF with 49,000 euros
for educational programmes in crisis areas. South African Gary
Player, one of golf's greatest legends, not only presented the prizes
to the winners, but also revealed professional tips and tricks in a
»Golf Clinic«. The 88-year-old was the perfect guest of honour for
the BMW Golf Cup World Final because of his status as one of
the greatest golfers of all time. He also designed the three spectacular
golf courses at Fancourt. www.bmw-golfsport.com
