Liebe goEast-Festivalgemeinde,
goEast – Festival des mittel- und
osteuropäischen Films geht in
die 24. Runde und präsentiert
sich auch in diesem Jahr wieder
gesellschaftskritisch und involviert
als starke Plattform für den mittelund
osteuropäischen Film. Im vom
Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain
geförderten Rahmenprogramm
„Cinema Archipelago“ gibt es
vielfältige Möglichkeiten, Mittel- und
Osteuropa zu erfahren.
Im Symposium wird unter dem Titel
„Die ‚anderen‘ Queers – Filmbilder
von der Peripherie Europas“ ein
Kapitel mittel- und osteuropäischen,
aber auch zentralasiatischen Films
beleuchtet, das bislang meist im
Verborgenen schlummerte. Mit
Vorträgen, Diskussionsrunden und
Filmvorführungen schaffen die
Kuratorinnen Öffentlichkeit für
queere Filmkunst und analysieren
die Gegenwart, Vergangenheit
und Zukunft dieses Teils der
Filmgeschichte. Das feministische,
aktivistische Balkannetzwerk
Yugoretten glänzt mit einem eigenen
Programm, bringt in verschiedenen
Veranstaltungen Menschen
zusammen und vernetzt diese. Ein
weiteres Highlight ist der RheinMain
Kurzfilmwettbewerb, der indigene
Filmschaffende fördert und mit
einem Preis von 2.500 Euro dotiert ist.
Die teilnehmenden Kurzfilme touren
nach dem Festival durch verschiedene
Kinos der Rhein-Main-Region
und können so auch außerhalb von
goEast ein noch breiteres Publikum
erreichen.
Ein anderer Schwerpunkt sind
die sehr produktiven und doch
hierzulande wenig bekannten
Filmländer Kosovo und Albanien,
deren unterschiedliche, aber eng
verbundene Filmtraditionen in einem
eigenen Programm mit aktuellen
Filmen präsentiert werden. Zudem
gibt es für die klangbegeisterten
Filmfans ein Musikvideoprogramm,
das Rhythmen, die sonst im Rahmen
der goEast Partys ertönen, in den
Kinosaal holt.
