Cinema Archipelago bietet ein umfangreiches und
breitgefächertes Rahmenprogramm, in diesem Jahr mit
dem Titel „Un:Recognized“ und wird vom Kulturfonds
Frankfurt RheinMain gefördert.
Im Symposium geht es unter dem Motto „Die ‚anderen‘
Queers – Filmbilder von der Peripherie Europas“ um die
verschiedenen, spezifischen Aspekte von Queerness
im Kontext der goEast-Regionen. Die Kuratorinnen
Yulia Serdyukova und Jasmina Šepetavc haben
gemeinsam mit weiteren Kurator:innen ein vielfältiges
Programm aus Lang- und Kurzfilmen, Vorträgen, einer
Ausstellung, Performance und Diskussionsrunden
zusammengestellt.
Die Sektion Kosovo & Albanien im Fokus lädt dazu
ein, zwei Filmländer genauer kennenzulernen, deren
Filme immer wieder internationale Erfolge feiern. In
Zusammenarbeit mit den nationalen Filmzentren in
Kosovo und Albanien zeigt goEast historische und
aktuelle Filme, gerahmt von einer Diskussion sowohl
zum Filmerbe als auch zur Filmproduktion.
Auch die Yugoretten sind zurück im Cinema
Archipelago! Die Initiative, die bereits 2022 zum ersten
Mal in Wiesbaden als Teil von goEast zusammenkam,
wird 2024 mit einem kuratierten Filmprogramm
und in Gesprächsveranstaltungen Akzente auf
unterschiedliche Themen setzen. Filmbilder von Frauen
und queerer Kultur stehen dabei im Mittelpunkt.
Der mit 2.500 Euro dotierte RheinMain Kurzfilmpreis
wird in diesem Jahr zum fünften Mal von einer lokalen
Jury aus der Rhein-Main-Region vergeben. Unter dem
Motto „Decolonizing the Post-Soviet Screen“ werden
sechs Kurzfilme gezeigt.
Bei der schon im vergangenen Jahr beliebten
Rheinschifffahrt gibt es in diesem Jahr unter
dem Motto „Rhine, Wine & Rhymez“ poetische
Begegnungen außerhalb des Kinos. Auf dem Schiff
lesen Künstler:innen ihre Lieblingsgedichte in ihren
Muttersprachen und eröffnen so einen Dialog in
idyllischer und inspirierender Atmosphäre.
Revolving this year around the slogan “Un:Recognized”,
Cinema Archipelago, made possible once again with the
generous support of Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain,
offers an extensive accompanying program that shines
with a wide range of supporting events.
Under the title “The 'Other' Queers – Cinematic Images
from the Periphery of Europe”, the Symposium tackles
the various specific aspects of queerness in the context
of goEast's focus regions. Curators Yulia Serdyukova
and Jasmina Šepetavc have teamed up with other guest
curators to assemble a multi-faceted program featuring
feature-length and short films, lectures, an exhibition, a
performance and panel discussions.
The Focus section on Kosovo and Albania invites
attendees to become better acquainted with two film
countries whose productions have repeatedly enjoyed
success on the international stage. In co-operation with
the national film centres in Kosovo and Albania, goEast
is showing historical and contemporary works, framed
by a discussion covering both cinema heritage and
current film production.
The Yugoretten are back again too at Cinema
Archipelago! The initiative, which came together for the
first time in Wiesbaden as part of goEast for the 2022
festival edition, will highlight diverse themes in the
scope of a curated film program and events focussing
on discourse. Cinematic images of women and queer
culture are both centre-stage here.
The RheinMain Short Film Award, endowed with 2,500
euros, will be presented for the fifth time this year by
a local jury from the Rhine-Main region. Under the
heading “Decolonizing the Post-Soviet Screen”, the
program features screenings of six short films.
Finally, last year's popular Rhine riverboat outing returns
this year with a new theme: “Rhine, Wine & Rhymez”
promises poetic encounters outside the cinema space.
On board the ship, artists will be reading their favourite
poems in their native tongues, opening a space for
conversation amid an idyllic, inspiring atmosphere.
