Kumjana Novakova
Geboren in Jugoslawien, arbeitet
die Filmemacherin, Filmkuratorin
und Dozentin seit 2006 im Bereich
Film und Kunst. Ihre Ausbildung
kombiniert internationale Beziehungen,
Kultur- und Sozialforschung in Sofia,
Sarajevo, Bologna und Amsterdam. Im
Jahr 2006 war sie Mitbegründerin
des Pravo Ljudski Filmfestivals in
Sarajevo und fungiert seither als
dessen Chefkuratorin. Von 2018 bis
2021 leitete sie die Filmabteilung des
Museums für zeitgenössische Kunst
in Skopje. Ihr Film DISTURBED EARTH
(in Ko-Regie mit G.C. Candi) war in
der engeren Auswahl für die Academy
Awards. Kumjana Novakova lebt derzeit
zwischen Sarajewo und Skopje in
Nordmazedonien.
Kumjana Novakova
Born in Yugoslavia, Kumjana Novakova,
a research-based filmmaker, film
curator and lecturer, has worked in
the fields of film and the arts since
2006. Her formal education combines
international relations and cultural
and social research studies in Sofia,
Sarajevo, Bologna and Amsterdam.
She co-founded the Pravo Ljudski Film
Festival in Sarajevo and acts as its chief
curator. She led the Film Department
of the Museum of Contemporary Arts
in Skopje from 2018 to 2021. Her film
DISTURBED EARTH (co-directed with
G.C. Candi) was shortlisted for the
Academy Awards. Kumjana Novakova
currently lives between Sarajevo and
Skopje, North Macedonia.
