Jessica Gorter ist eine niederländische
Dokumentarfilmmacherin. Sie studierte
Regie und Schnitt an der niederländischen
Film- und Fernsehakademie
in Amsterdam. Gorter gelang nach
mehreren Kurzfilmen der Durchbruch
mit 900 DAYS (2011), über den Mythos
und die Realität der Leningrader
Blockade. Im Jahr 2014 erhielt Jessica
für ihre Arbeit den renommierten Dokumentarfilmpreis
des niederländischen
„Prinz-Bernhard-Kulturfonds“.
In ihrem dritten Langfilm THE RED SOUL
(2017) untersuchte die Regisseurin,
warum Stalin von so vielen Russ:innen
immer noch als Held gesehen wird.
Ihr neuester Dokumentarfilm THE
DMITRIEV AFFAIR (2023) ist eine
thematische Fortsetzung aller Filme, die
sie seit den 1990er Jahren in Russland
gedreht hat: Er legt die Folgen des
Zerfalls der Sowjetunion für das Leben
des Einzelnen offen.
Jessica Gorter is a Dutch documentary
filmmaker. She studied directing
and editing at the Dutch Film and
Television Academy in Amsterdam.
After a few short films, Gorter made her
breakthrough with 900 DAYS (2011),
which treats the myth and reality of the
siege of Leningrad. In 2014, Jessica
received the prestigious Documentary
Award from the Dutch “Prince Bernhard
Cultural Fund” for her work. In her third
feature-length film THE RED SOUL
(2017), the director investigated why
Stalin is still seen as a hero by so many
Russians. Her latest documentary THE
DMITRIEV AFFAIR (2023) is a thematic
continuation of all the films she has
made in Russia since the 1990s: laying
bare the consequences for individual
lives of the disintegration of the Soviet
Union.
Dagmar Mielke arbeitet seit 2004 als
Redakteurin bei RBB/ARTE. Zuvor
war sie für verschiedene andere
Redaktionen sowie als Autorin und
Regisseurin tätig. Dokumentarfilme,
die Dagmar Mielke in Auftrag gegeben
hat, sind z.B. JUDGMENT IN HUNGARY
(Eszter Hajdú), AQUARELA (Victor
Kossakovsky), HOW TO SAVE A DEAD
FRIEND (Marusya Syroechkovskaya),
BECOMING NAWALNY (Igor Sadreev/
Aleksandr Urzhanov).

Dagmar Mielke has worked since 2004
as a commissioning editor for RBB/
ARTE. Before that, she worked for
several other editorial offices and as
an author and director. Documentaries
Dagmar Mielke has commissioned
include, for example, JUDGMENT IN
HUNGARY (Eszter Hajdú), AQUARELA
(Victor Kossakovsky), HOW TO SAVE A
DEAD FRIEND (Marusya Syroechkovskaya)
and BECOMING NAWALNY (Igor
Sadreev/Aleksandr Urzhanov). Many of
the films have won national and international
awards, among them Oscar
nominated RABBITS À LA BERLIN by
Bartek Konopka and Piotr Rosolowski,
the best Israeli documentary of 2015,
Mor Loushy's CENSORED VOICES, and
the German Film Award winner of 2019,
GUNDERMAN, directed by Andreas
Dresen.
Maciej Nowicki ist der Vorstandsvorsitzende
der Helsinki Stiftung für
Menschenrechte in Polen, einer der
größten Menschenrechtsorganisationen
in Mittel- und Osteuropa. Er ist studierter
Anwalt, Experte für Menschenrechte,
Rechtsstaatlichkeit und Dokumentarfilme,
leitet Schulungen, hält Vorträge,
nahm an verschiedenen Podiumsdiskussionen
teil und war Jurymitglied bei
mehreren internationalen Filmfestivals.
2001 war er Mitbegründer des internationalen
Filmfestivals „WATCH DOCS.
Human Rights in Film“ in Warschau, das
er bis 2021 leitete. Zudem konzipierte er
„FUTURE DOCS“ – eine internationale
Plattform für kreative Begegnungen
zwischen Menschenrechtsverteidiger:innen
und Dokumentarfilmemacher:innen.
Maciej Nowicki is the President of the
Board of the Helsinki Foundation for
Human Rights, Poland – one of the
largest human rights NGOs in Central
and Eastern Europe. He is a trained
lawyer and an expert on human rights,
the rule of law and documentary film,
who has conducted training sessions,
given lectures, participated in various
panel debates and served on several
juries at international film festivals.
In 2001, Maciej Nowicki co-founded
“WATCH DOCS International Film
Festival – Human Rights in Film” in
Warsaw and served as its director
until 2021. He is also the author of
the concept behind the “FUTURE
DOCS” international platform for
creative encounters between human
rights defenders and documentary
filmmakers.
