PITCH
goEast unterstützt alljährlich aufstrebende
Filmschaffende und Nachwuchstalente aus Mittel- und
Osteuropa und vernetzt sie mit Gleichgesinnten aus
Deutschland. Für das East-West Talent Lab wurde
ein vielseitiges Fortbildungsprogramm konzipiert,
welches den Teilnehmer:innen sowohl die Möglichkeit
zum ersten Austausch mit Branchenvertreter:innen
von Produktionsfirmen und Fernsehsendern gibt, als
auch die Gelegenheit, ihre Projektideen vorzustellen
und Partner:innen für Koproduktionen zu finden. Das
Programm für die Teilnehmer:innen umfasst unter
anderem Pitching-Trainings von Filmemacherin Cathy
de Haan und Einzelmentorings mit Industry- und
Dokumentarfilmexpertin Brigid O’Shea und Produzent
Maxim Tuula. Das East-West Talent Lab ist auf nonfiktionale
und dokumentarische Formate spezialisiert
und fokussiert sich u.a. auf Menschenrechtsthemen
im Dokumentarfilm. In diesem Jahr wird das Programm
des East-West Talent Lab durch die Filme und ein
Diskussionspanel des Human Rights Sunday ergänzt.
Every year, goEast supports up-and-coming film
professionals and emerging artists from Central and
Eastern Europe and helps them to forge connections
with peers in Germany. A multi-faceted educational
program has been assembled for the 2024 edition of
the East-West Talent Lab, one which offers participants
their first opportunity to get to know industry
representatives from production companies and
television broadcasters as well as the chance to present
their project ideas and find partners for co-productions.
Among other items, the program for the attendees
includes pitching training sessions with filmmaker
Cathy de Haan and one-on-one mentoring from
industry and documentary film expert Brigid O’Shea
and producer Maxim Tuula. The East-West Talent Lab is
specialised in non-fictional and documentary formats
and focusses on human rights oriented subject matter
in documentary film, among other topics. This year, the
East-West Talent Lab program will be expanded with
film screenings and a panel discussion featured in the
scope of the festival's new Human Rights Sunday.
Vor einer dreiköpfigen Fachjury
und vor Publikum präsentieren die
Teilnehmer:innen des East-West
Talent Lab ihre Projektideen mit
non-fiktionalem und dokumentarischem
Fokus. Die jungen Talente
kommen aus Mittel- und Osteuropa.
Der jeweilige Pitch beläuft sich auf
fünf Minuten, dem schließen sich ein
direktes Feedback und die Fragen
der Fachjury an. Diese besteht in
diesem Jahr aus Jessica Gorter,
Dagmar Mielke und Maciej Nowicki.
Die besten Pitches haben die Chance
auf das mit 3.500 Euro dotierte
Renovabis-Recherchestipendium
für ein Dokumentarfilmprojekt mit
Menschenrechtsschwerpunkt und
den Pitch the Doc-Award in Form
eines Sachpreises für Weiterbildung
im Wert von 500 Euro. Die Preisträger:innen
werden im Rahmen der
goEast-Preisverleihung bekannt
gegeben.
The participants in the East-West
Talent Lab, all young talents
hailing from Central and Eastern
Europe, present their project ideas
with a focus on non-fictional and
documentary formats in front of
a three-member expert jury and a
live audience. Each pitch is limited
to a maximum of five minutes, to
be immediately followed by direct
feedback and questions from the
expert jury, which consists this year
of Jessica Gorter, Dagmar Mielke
and Maciej Nowicki. The best pitches
have the chance to win the Renovabis
Research Grant (endowed with 3,500
euros), for a documentary film project
with a focus on human rights, and
the Pitch-the-Doc Award, which
features a non-cash educational prize
package valued at 500 euros. The
award winners will be revealed by the
jury in the scope of the annual goEast
Award Ceremony.
