TOURAINE-CHENONCEAUX:
€11,160 COLLECTED FOR ‘MAGIE À L’HÔPITAL’
On April 28, the winegrowers of AOC Touraine Chenonceaux and Château de Chenonceau held a charity evening in the Orangery
to collect donations for the ‘Magie à l’hôpital’ association. The money will be used to help make children’s dreams come true.
The evening began with an auction curated by
Chloë Collin, France’s youngest auctioneer –
five lots of six bottles of Touraine Chenonceaux,
each representing a wall-sealed collection*, were
offered for sale. This is the first auction held by
the appellation since the wines were first sealed
in a brick wall in 2014.
The evening then continued with a food and
wine pairing dinner prepared by the association
of top chefs, ‘La Sauce’, whose members
are Olivier Arlot, Didier Edon, Didier Frébout,
Frédéric Arnault, Henri Leclerc, Aurélien
Faugère, Grégory Colas, Grégory Heyndrickx
and Alain Couturier.
Orchestrating the event was Yoann Grégory,
MOF maître d’hôtel 2022, with help from the
Loire Valley sommelier association. The Selles
sur Cher producers’ organisation provided
the cheese which paved the way for a creative
pairing with white Touraine-Chenonceaux
wine. Over fifteen winegrowers, men and
women, took part and engaged with guests,
providing a genuine opportunity for everyone
to share some great moments.
*Every year, as a nod to the Château des Dames, a 100% female panel tastes Touraine Chenonceaux wines and chooses its ‘favourite’ white
and red. Three bottles of each colour are signed by the patron of the event and then sealed in a wall of the historic Dômes du Château cellar.
