Oberfläche - CHROM 

Ein weiterer Punkt, der die Sprenger-Ketten auszeichnet, ist die hochglänzende 

Oberfläche. Während andere Hersteller ihre Ketten vor dem Galvanisieren nur abbeizen, wendet 

Sprenger eine besondere Art des Hochglanzpolierens an. Abbeizen bedeutet, dass das Metall 

von nicht metallischen Partikeln und Öl befreit wird. Diese Ketten haben aber keine 

Oberflächenpolitur. Der Vorteil unseres Polierens ist, dass die Oberfläche viel glatter wird und 

ein schöner Glanz entsteht. Nach dem Polieren werden die Ketten vernickelt und verchromt. 

Unsere Nickel- und Chrombäder werden durch ein Labor ständig überwacht und entsprechend 

den aktuellen Umweltauflagen entsorgt. Außerdem testet man die Haltbarkeit der Nickelschicht 

durch Biegeproben. Wenn z. B. beim Verbiegen eines Ringes die Nickelschicht nicht abplatzt, ist 

gewährleistet, dass die Nickelschicht in Ordnung ist. Erst dann werden die Ketten auf Gestellen 

verchromt. 

Chromium Plating 

How do we reach the brilliant and durable surface on our chains? 

Whereas other manufacturers only dip the chains before galvanizing, Sprenger uses a different 

procedure of mirror-bright polishing. Dipping means to remove non-metallic unclean things like oil 

from the chains. The metal becomes clear but has no surface polishing. The advantage of our 

polishing is that the surface becomes much smoother and has this special bright shine. After 

tumbling, the chains are nickel or chrome plated. 

Our nickel and chrome baths are monitored permanently by a laboratory. Sprenger examines the 

grip of the nickel layer through „bending” tests before the chains are chromium plated. 

Acier chromé 

Un autre point qui distingue les chaînes Sprenger est leur incroyable surface brillante. Alors que les 

autres fabricants décapent seulement leurs chaînes avant de les galvaniser, chez Sprenger, elles 

subissent, grâce à un autre procédé complémentaire, un polissage brillant. Le décapage signifie 

simplement que les saletés comme l’huile par ex. sont dissoutes. Le métal est alors propre mais 

n’a pas été poli en surface. Grâce à notre procédé de polissage intense, la surface est beaucoup 

plus lisse et donne donc une plus grande brillance. Après le polissage, les chaînes seront nickelées 

puis chromées. 

Nos bains de nickel- et chrome sont constamment surveillés par un laboratoire qui, lors d’essais de 

torsion, contrôle l’adhérence de la couche de nickel. Celle-ci est garantie si elle ne s’écaille pas lors 

d’un essai de torsion d’un anneau, par exemple. Ce n’est qu’après ce contrôle que les chaînes 

seront montées sur un support pour y être chromées. 

Acero cromado 

¿Cómo conseguimos esa superficie tan brillante y resistente en el acero cromado? Así como otros 

fabricantes sólo bañan las cadenas antes del galvanizado, Sprenger usa un proceso de pulido 

diferente que le da ese brillo espejo. Bañar significa quitar las impurezas no metálicas de las 

cadenas. El metal se limpia pero su superficie no se pule. La superfice del pulido es que la 

superficie se convierte en mucho más suave y tiene ese brillo tan especial. Después del secado se 

les aplica un cromado o niquelado. Estos baños de cromo o niquel se monitorizan 

permanentemente en nuestros laboratorios. Sprenger examina la adherencia de la capa de niquel 

mediante test dirigidos antes de que las cadenas sean cromadas.

1872 gründete Hermann Sprenger eine Fabrik für Reit- und 

Fahrgeschirrbeschläge. Im Laufe der Jahre fügten die Nachfolger die 

Herstellung von Bootsbeschlägen und Hundesportartikeln hinzu. 

Sprenger ist ein reiner Familienbetrieb und wird in der vierten Generation nun allein durch 

Peter Sprenger geführt. Alle Sprenger - Produkte sind „Made in Germany”. 

In 1872 Hermann Sprenger founded a factory for riding accessories. In the course of 

the years, his successors added the manufacture of boat fittings and dog accessories. Sprenger 

is a really family-owned company and lead by the fourth generation now solely through Peter 

Sprenger. All Sprenger - products are „made in Germany”. 

En 1872 Hermann Sprenger a créé une fabrique d'articles d'équitation . Au cours des annés, les 

successeurs y ont ajouté la fabrication en articles d'accastillage pour bateaux et articles pour

The training collar - communication between human being and dog 

Die artgerechte Hundesprache 

Ihrer instinktiven Struktur folgend, liegt es in der Natur der 

Hunde, sich einer Autorität zu unterwerfen, sei dies das Alpha- 

Mitglied des Rudels dem sie angehören oder ein Mensch. 

Instinktiv will der Hund wissen, wo innerhalb des Rudels sein 

Platz ist und genialer weise bringt dieses innere Verlangen die 

erforderliche Stabilität in das Rudel. Hunde wissen auch, dass 

einer leiten und der andere folgen muss. Der positivste Weg, 

ein erfolgreiches Rudel aufzubauen ist wie der Hund zu 

denken. Viele moderne Hundeerzieher lassen diesen 

äußerst wichtigen Aspekt einfach weg oder denken sich 

selber etwas aus, dass die Situation meist erschwert. 

Die Grundsätze 

moderner 

Hundeerziehung 

Wenn man über die zur Zeit populären Erziehungsprinzipien, 

die lediglich gewünschtes 

Verhalten belohnen und unerwünschtes 

ignorieren, hinausschaut, 

sollte man einmal das Lehrverhalten von 

Hunden beobachten wie sie sich gegenseitig 

erziehen. Sie werden feststellen, 

dass Hunde nicht einmal das menschliche 

Element der Strafe benutzen, sondern vielmehr 

niedrigeren Rudelmitgliedern durch 

autoritäres Knurren, Körpersprache und 

Berührungen lehren, wie sie miteinander 

verträglich umgehen müssen. – Merke: in 

der „Lehr-Sphäre” der Natur werden sie 

niemals artfremde Bestrafungen sehen 

und die Natur ignoriert gar nichts – stattdessen 

erfolgt eine sofortige Korrektur. 

Der „Biss” mit 

der Dressurhalskette 

Das wirkungsvollste Erziehungshalsband, 

das der Mensch erfunden hat, um Hundetraining 

erfolgreich durchzuführen, ist die 

Dressurhalskette. Wenn sie korrekt eingesetzt 

wird, ist dieses Halsband, das was 

den Zähnen einer Hündin bei ihrem 

Welpen am nahesten kommt, nämlich ein 

präzises Hilfsmittel für den Rudelführer, 

mit dem er „Warnbisse” an niedrige Rudelmitglieder 

gibt, um seine Autorität zu 

stärken. Letztendlich wird die Dressurkette 

zu einem Kontrollinstrument, um 

Rudelmitgliedern, die immer wieder bestrebt 

sind ihre Position im Rudel zu verbessern, 

wieder Respekt zu verschaffen.

Bevor die Dressurhalskette eingesetzt 

wird, sollte ein erfolgreicher Anwender 

lernen, mit wie viel Feingefühl und Druck er 

arbeiten sollte und natürlich auch wie das 

Halsband an seinem Hund richtig angelegt 

werden muss. Die Drahtstärke der Mittelglieder 

sollte so groß wie möglich gewählt 

werden und die Kuppen müssen sorgfältig 

abgerundet sein, um jegliche Hautverletzungen 

zu vermeiden. Ganz gleich ob man 

zum öffnen Mittelglieder aushängt oder von 

Sprenger eine Variante mit Öffnungsmechanismus 

benutzt, sollte die Kette immer geöffnet 

werden und wie eine Halskette / Collier 

um den Nacken des Hundes gelegt 

werden. Um Verletzungen an den Augen 

zu vermeiden, sollte die Dressurhalskette 

niemals über den Kopf des Hundes gezogen 

werden. Merke: Wenn eine Dressurkette 

so groß ist, dass sie problemlos 

über den Kopf gezogen werden kann, 

wird sie auf keinen Fall am Hals 

richtig/optimal anliegen. 

Erklärung 

Die Dressurhalskette kann erfolgreich eine 

nicht „Hunde-orientierte” Erziehung ersetzen 

bzw. von Anbeginn in die richtigen 

Wege leiten. - Die richtige Handhabung 

zu erlernen, das ist der Schlüssel zum 

Erfolg. Bringen Sie eine Leine am Halsband 

an und sie verbinden damit die zwei 

wichtigsten Elemente des Trainings: ihre 

Hand und die Dressurhalskette.

Speaking dog’s natural language 

Following the instinctive design of dogs, it is their 

nature to submit to authority, be it the authority of an alpha 

member of the pack of animals they belong to- or man. 

Dogs instinctively want to know their status within the pack, 

and ingeniously this intrinsic need brings stability to the unit! 

Dogs also know that someone has to lead, and someone 

has to follow. The most positive way to establish a successful 

pack is to think dog. Modern dog educators usually 

omit this most important aspect, or make up something of their 

own, with the situation becoming negative. 

The principles 

of modern dog education 

Moving beyond the popular principle of 

modern dog education to ‘reward the desired, 

and ignore the undesired’, let’s observe 

the teaching procedures of dogs to 

find out from the masters! If you notice, 

dogs don’t even use the human element of 

punishment, but rather teach lesser pack 

members how to be compatible through 

authoritative growls, body language, and 

touch. Note: In the teaching realm of nature, 

you’ll never see foreign kinds of 

abuses taking place and nature doesn’t 

ignore anything—but instead—corrects 

immediately! 

The „bite” with the 

training collar 

The most efficient training collar man has 

devised to help in successful training of 

pet dogs will be the prong collar. When 

used correctly, this collar can be the 

closest thing to mom’s teeth to a puppy, a 

precise tool for the pack leader’s warning 

bite in teaching respect for authority to 

lesser members, and finally, the prong becomes 

a controlling tool in keeping social 

climbers within the pack in a respective 

pecking order status. 

Sprenger Training collar 

Before using the prong collar, a successful 

handler will have learned the 

amount of touch and release pressure is 

needed in any application, then how to put 

the collar on their dog in a correct manner. 

The thickness of the wire used in each and 

every link has to be chosen as big as possible 

and the blunt heads have to be 

rounded off very carefully in order to 

avoid any injuries of the skin. Separating 

any two links or using one of the other 

‘quick-release’ style of prong collars 

Sprenger manufactures, open the collar 

like a necklace and place it around your 

dog’s throat. For the obvious reason of 

preventing eye injury, the prong 

shouldn’t be slipped over the dog’s head. 

Note: If you’re able to slip a prong collar 

over his head comfortably, it would certainly 

not be a good fit in the throat area! 

Application: 

This training collar can successfully initiate 

or replace any kind of non-dog oriented 

education. Learning to use it correctly 

is the key. Snap a lead to the collar 

and you connect the two most important 

elements of training—your hand and the

Alle Hunde reagieren

Weg für sie nicht akzeptabel ist. 

Sie müssen das Tempo vorgeben und 

der Leithund sein, den ihr Hund 

braucht und versteht. Dann lernen sie 

mit exakt wie viel Gefühl ihr Hund angesprochen 

werden sollte. Nicht die 

Leine in der Hand ist das Lehrmittel 

für die gewünschte Richtung, sondern 

die Dressurhalskette ist es. – 

Die Sprenger Dressurhalskette wird 

von staatlich geprüften Ausbildern 

und den Verbänden organisierter 

Ausbilder empfohlen, weil sie wirklich 

funktioniert. Wenn sie mit der 

Dressurhalskette nicht arbeiten 

können, finden sie eine Person, die 

damit erfolgreich ist oder bitten sie 

einen Experten um seine Hilfe. 

Anwendung 

Viele Profis lassen ihre Hunde an der 

linken Seite „bei Fuß” laufen. Es gibt 

viele Theorien, warum sie das so machen. 

Wenn sie ihrem Hund die Dressurhalskette 

anlegen ist es nicht so 

wichtig, wo sie oder ihr Hund stehen 

oder sitzen. Es spielt auch keine Rolle 

welche Sprenger-Dressurhalskette 

(mit oder ohne Schnellauslösung) sie 

nehmen und wie herum der Hund sie 

trägt. Das einzige, worauf sie 

achten müssen ist, dass die Kette 

nicht zu lose und nicht zu stramm 

sitzt. Die Dressurhalskette darf niemals 

mit den „Krallen” nach außen 

getragen werden. – Die Vermutung, 

dass dieses Halsband, wenn der 

Hund es trägt, kneift oder Druck 

ausübt, ist einfach nicht wahr. Es 

zwickt und kneift nicht in den Hals in 

der Form dass es Verletzungen verursachen 

würde.

Von Kindertagen an war es ihr Wunsch, die 

Tiere, mit denen wir unseren Planeten teilen 

und mit denen wir zusammen leben, besser zu 

verstehen. Sehr früh erkannte Sie, dass wir von 

den Tieren nur soviel erfahren, wie sie es zulassen. 

Aber die Hunde, die ihre 

Familie über all die Jahre begleiteten, 

brachten immer neue Erkenntnisse. 

Schnell wurde ihr klar, 

dass es für den Menschen einfacher 

ist, die Sprache des Hundes 

zu lernen als umgekehrt. – Als sie 

die ersten Hunde erfolgreich trainierte 

und konditionierte und ihr 

Erfolg sowohl bei der Unterordnung 

als auch beim Obedience auf 

Wettkämpfen und Shows bestätigt 

wurde, war ihr klar, dass die Hundeerziehung 

sehr einfach erfolgen muss. Cindy hat bei 

jedem Hund die Erfahrung gemacht, dass die 

Dressurhalskette das beste von Menschenhand 

geschaffene Hilfsmittel ist, um bei der Arbeit 

mit dem Hund dessen Instinkte und Sprache

A love of nature and wanting to study and understand 

the animals we share our planet 

with—especially our companion animals 

started for me at an early age. I wanted to know 

how instinct had become our pet’s ‘common 

sense’. From his great store of Native 

American wisdom, my Dad used to say, 

„nobody will ever know everything about 

nature.” So I took his advice, slowed 

down and took a breath. I could and 

would, learn only what the animals allowed 

me to. With each consecutive dog I 

have owned for instance, revelation upon 

revelation came with my animals schooling 

me. Simply put, it is easier to learn 

dog language than it is for a dog to learn 

ours. Having successfully trained and 

conditioned dogs for confirmation and obedience, 

both in shows and trials respectfully, I 

have learned to keep it simple! My training 

toolbox holds only a few pieces of simple 

equipment. A few leads of nylon and leather in 

different lengths, and a few collars. My most favorite 

collar is the prong collar. I have learned 

with every dog that it is the best man made design 

for working a dog in mimicking the canine 

instinct—and language. I love working with 

dogs, and have learned also, that they like to be 

around somebody that has learned their

All dogs are sensitive to 

touch because it is instinctively part 

of their language. Learn to touch 

your dog at the collar with different 

levels of pressure, and you will definitely 

have the upper hand in 

speaking dog! 

The passage chain allows this, and 

the result with learning to speak dog 

is this—-no inappropriate behaviour 

in your home! 

Please don’t drag your dog in a particular 

direction at the end of your 

lead, simply let him know which way 

is not acceptable, by setting the 

pace, being the leader your dog 

needs and understands, then learn 

the exact level of touch it will take to 

talk to your own dog. The lead in 

hand is not the teacher of desired 

direction, the collar is! 

The Sprenger prong collar is recommended 

by state-licensed and accredited 

instructors, and also by the 

federation of organized instructors 

because it works. If it doesn’t work 

for you, find a person who has had 

success with it, or expert, and ask 

for help. 

Demonstration: 

Many professionals put their dogs at 

heel to their left. There are lots of 

theories on why they do. When putting 

the prong collar on your dog 

though, there is no particular place 

you or your dog needs to stand or 

sit. Since you will be undoing either 

a snap on a quick-release style, or 

separating links to put it on, there is 

no right or wrong way for it to lay on 

the neck. The only consideration 

would be if the collar is too loose or 

too tight. Refrain from slipping this 

kind of collar over your dog’s head 

to keep from injuring the eyes. Don’t 

allow your dog to wear the prong 

collar with the prongs facing outward 

(inside out). This collar teaches 

the common sense that dogs possess, 

and we can learn from it also. 

The assumption that this collar 

‘pinches’ when on the dog and pressure 

is applied, is a falsehood. It 

neither pinches or pokes the neck in 

a way that would cause injury.
