Having new products arrive at your store is an exciting time but what’s even more exciting is
when they fly out of the door! Here, we look at retailing marketing, giving you some helpful
tips to keep the cash flowing and your tills ringing.
Retail marketing relates to
the approaches and devices
that retailers can use to
draw in customers and
push sales. There are four
key components to retail
marketing – the “Four Ps” – Product,
Price, Place, and Promotion.
Product
First is the Product - the material item
that’s being traded.
Price
The price refers to the pricing strategy
that the merchant uses to sell the
item. (Examples include “everyday
low prices,” implementing pricing
psychology like using the classic
“£9.99”)
Place
Place denotes the location or platform
used to sell products such as your
website or social media.
Promotion
Finally, there’s Promotion, which is what
the retailer does to get the word out
and entice sales.
Successfully executing your retail
marketing strategies requires a solid
grip on the Four Ps. Tracking these
components and ensuring that they’re
all working together is fundamental to
any marketing strategy.

management system that allows you to
manage the Four Ps easily.
Market your retail business and get

1. Find where your customers are and
go there
Effective retail marketing isn’t just
about the specific campaigns that
you run; the channels and platforms
on which you run your initiatives are
important. Even the greatest marketing
tactics won’t be effective if you don’t
meet your customers where they’re are.
Some common routes include:
Retail displays and in-store initiatives
– Are people coming into your store
because of the vibrant window
displays? Are they attracted to the large
signs or exciting products you have on
display?

big traffic driver for you, be sure
to incorporate it into your retail

comes to bricks and mortar stores, so

ads and Instagram posts to AdWords
and a strong ecommerce presence,
the tactics you employ online may
also drive in-store traffic. Measure
your efforts on the digital marketing
front and if you’re unsure go on a
course or enlist some help from an
expert.
2. Utilise your existing assets
Before looking at extravagant retail
marketing tactics, start by leveraging
the assets you already have. If your
store is up and running, you likely
have a lot of resources that you can
use in your marketing efforts.
Your merchandise and fixtures –
The best way to attract and convert
customers is to wow them with
exciting displays that really sell the
product. Make sure you’re also always
stocking the right products. Visit
trade shows such as SHOT and IWA
to keep your finger on the pulse of
what’s hot and what’s not.

action? It may be wise to focus on the
area of your shop that generates the
most income. 90 per cent of the time
this is the front of your store. Here

3. Leverage social media
Like it or loath it, social media is one
of the most important marketing
tools you have at your disposal.
When it comes to retail and social
media, there are many platforms you
could use to promote your business.
If you have a small team it will pay to
focus on one or two platforms and do
them well rather than spreading your
resources too thinly.
Facebook tips for retailers –
Unfortunately, Facebook is one social
media site where paying money to
promote your business really helps. It
is common knowledge that the social
network has been decreasing brands’
organic reach for some time now
and we can expect business’ organic
presence to decline even more.
Here’s what you can do to compete:
Start a Facebook Group – Facebook
lets you create Groups for your
business or brand. Think of Facebook
Groups as clubs or communities
where your most engaged customers
and fans can congregate.
Create a group that’s focussed
around the hunting/shooting
lifestyle.
Run Facebook ads – If Groups aren’t
your cup of tea, or if you want even
more brand visibility on Facebook,
then you’ll need to run Facebook
ads to reach your target audience.

a variety of ad products with robust
targeting capabilities that let you
zero in on your specific audience.
Using Instagram to market your
store – With over 1.2 billion monthly
active users (over half of which
are active daily), it’s obvious that
Instagram is a go-to social network
for today’s consumers.
Here are some best practices to
consider:
Create your ‘look’ – Your Instagram
posts should be anything but
random. You need to create a clear
brand aesthetic so when people visit
your profile, they get a quick idea of
who your brand is.
Make use of Instagram Stories –
Instagram Stories allow you to be
more informal with your aesthetic,
as people expect Stories to be more
spontaneous and less curated. You
can use them to give people behindthe-scenes
glimpses at your store or
showcase new products.
Hashtag it up – Research which
hashtags are relevant to your brand
and use them to help your photos

Steambow’s 2023 event calendar got off to a flying start with a supremely successful
SHOT Show in Las Vegas, whilst the Nuremberg IWA Outdoor Classics in March didn’t
disappoint either. In both cases, the AR-6 Stinger II continued to draw crowds, especially

A versatile tool
This third AR-6 Stinger
II iteration is designed
as a single-shot, carryanywhere,

and disassembly is entirely
possible using tools

a hex wrench recessed
into the scope rail and an
Allen key clipped in it too.

these, the limbs can be
slotted into the frame

A truly portable crossbow
Mounting the limbs takes

It was 2013 when Davide Pedersoli, world leader in the reproduction of
historical guns, began its own production of lever-action rifles and carbine.
Now the Italian company has a whole host of versions available.

The Boarbuster rifles are
equipped with a Picatinny
scope base to mount
long focal scopes or red
