This is a Modular Lesson Series so the lessons can be taught in any order. Pick and choose, if you like. The series stresses variety and you are welcome to pick your favorites based on what you or your students might enjoy most. In total, the 18 lessons comprise a complete semester art course for middle school students. Each lesson contains a teacher instruction page and a student pack filled with unique activities, projects and bonus assignments.Grades: 6-9Student completion time: 4-5 hours per weekly lessonLesson 13 – Kinetic Art will teach students how to make <u>art that moves</u>. Several ocean themed project templates are provided, but instructions are included for students that want to design their own.Lesson 14 – Digital Art will teach students the history and future of binary art. Projects include making ASCII nameplates, using a mouse to create a mouse and creating vector art in Word using the rotoscoping technique.Lesson 15 – Art of Illusion will teach students about using optical and perceptual illusions in their art. Students will create illusions with their own phone camera using several traditional techniques. Projects include building the double illusion “Ebbinghaus Owl” and making their own thaumatrope. L

Photographs will teach students the basics of taking their photography from snapshots to art.
Students will learn about, and put to use, the Rule of Thirds in their own photo portfolio.Lesson 17
–Art with Macrophotography will teach students to see the artistry in the very small as they
build their own PowerPoint presentation of close-up photographs.Lesson 18 –Artistic Videos
will teach the cardinal rule of videography –hold the camera still. Projects include building a
phone stand for their video work and producing a one-minute nature documentary.
