Sacco and Vanzetti. New Documentary Coming Up.
The New-York-based director Peter Miller produced a new documentary "Sacco and Vanzetti"
(USA, 80min), dealing with the famous case of the two Italian anarchists who got executed in
1927, and offering insights into present-day issues of civil liberties and the rights of
immigrants. While the theatrical release is planned in early 2007, several pre-screenings have
been taken place on different occasions all over the US. More information under

Olga Benario Honored in Brazilian Movie and Opera.
"Olga", the 2004 movie by Brazilian filmmaker Jayme Monjardim deals with the biography of
Olga Benario Prestes, the German wife of the Brazilian communist leader Luis Carlos Prestes,
who was, after the failed Brazilian communist uprising in 1935, incarcerated and deported to
Germany, where she died in a concentration camp. The film, covering Benario's whole life,
including her early engagement in the German communist movement and her time in the
Comintern apparatus, had three winnings and six more nominations at the Cinema Brazil
Grand Prize in 2005. In late 2006 it was screened in selected cinemas in Germany. In 2006 as
well, an opera about her life by Jorge Antunes premiered on October 14 at the Theatro
Municipal in São Paulo, Brazil.
"Le Brahmane du Komintern." New Documentary on M. N. Roy.
The French filmmaker Vladimir Léon recently released a documentary entitled "Le Brahmane
du Komintern", dealing with the life of M. N. Roy, early Indian communist, Comintern activist
in Mexico and theorician of the South- and Middle-Asian workers' movement. More information
