communist party and Freud scholar, died in 1957, he determined concerning his archive that
"...nothing whatsoever must be changed in any of these documents and that they should be
put away and stored for 50 years to secure their safety from destruction and falsification by
anyone interested in the falsification and destruction of historical truth." The archive is
nowadays located in the Rare Books and Special Collections at the Francis A. Countway
Library of Medicine at Harvard University and comprises well over 200 archive boxes of
materials. The Wilhelm Reich Museum in Rangeley, Maine
(http://www.wilhelmreichmuseum.org) has now announced that according to Reich's will, the
archive will be opened for scholars in late 2007 or early 2008. It would be interesting to know
whether the opening of this archive will surface materials concerning Reich's actvities in the
European communist movement during the 1920s and 1930s.
Vademekum Contemporary History Hungary Published by Stiftung
Aufarbeitung, Berlin.
The German Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED-Dictatorship (Stiftung zur Aufarbeitung
der SED-Diktatur) has published another volume of their "Vademekum Contemporary History"
archival guidebooks, this time concerning archives and institutions in Hungary. This
guidebook, compiled by Janos M. Rainer, Judit M. Topits and Ulrich Mählert, may be ordered

Comintern-Online, Moscow-Amsterdam: 100 000 Additional Pages

The Comintern Online Database, the biggest archival ressource on Communist history in the
web, has been enriched in Summer 2006 by the addition of three newly digitized fonds,
including approx. 100 000 pages. These three fonds now included are the Balkan
Ländersekretariat (f. 495.69), the Eastern Ländersekretariat (f. 495.154) and the South
American Bureau of the ECCI (f. 503.1).
IDC Publishers, Amsterdam: Comintern files concerning Mexico released.
The Dutch publishing house IDC Publishers has released the files of the Communist Party of
Mexico covering the period 1919-1940 in a microform edition. They include extensive
documentation of the relations between the Comintern and its counterparts in Mexico and
other countries in Latin America. Many documents in this collection are unique.
