167 In this room, here we are, sitting back to back, dwelling in one single body.
We are wide open to the inscrutable countenances of the outside
world, yet faceless to each other:
Together we are Janus.
Then, there is a cut between us.
A bottomless bleeding respiring slit, as deep as one’s
consciousness goes, as shifting as tides.
You and me, indeed, we live in an event – within a deed of
continuous gash.
See, our lives are made of an unceasing act of cutting, in slow
motion, in each instant approximating to a perfect fissure yet
never falling apart.
It is not a cut that splits. You and me. Here and there. Now and then.
