VACCINATION IN THE PHARMACY
The vaccination offer in Germany is being further expanded due to the high demand.
Since February 8 of this year, pharmacies have also been offering vaccinations
against coronavirus.
The Berlin pharmacist Stefan Rézépa also
had to undergo advanced training to offer this
extra service. He explained:
”In the process, we learned not
only how to vaccinate painlessly,
but also how to react in
emergencies and in the event of
certain vaccine reactions.“
All vaccines can be provided by pharmacies
after prior registration at 030 313 8000.
Currently vaccines from Biontech, Pfizer,
Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are on offer.
At the moment the favorite appears to be
Pfizer Cominarty, according to the pharmacist
Stefan Rézépa from the Leibniz pharmacy on
the Kantstrasse 130 B in10625 Berlin.
Before the vaccine is administered, an
informational discussion takes place. Here,
the health history is discussed as well as
possible risks and experiences from previous
vaccinations. Please make an appointment in
advance.
RECOVERED, VACCINATED,
BOOSTERED!
You can't get very far today without proof of
vaccination and/or proof of recovery. However,
as the protection of the vaccine decreases
over time, the proof of vaccination also
has a time limit. But no need to fear, getting a
booster extends both your protection and the
length of your vaccine. So go out and get that
booster, which is even more important with
the more contagious corona variant Omikron,
against which three vaccinations only provide
limited protection.
FROM WHEN AND HOW OFTEN CAN
ONE GET A BOOSTER VACCINATION?
The Standing Vaccination Commission
(STIKO) recommends a booster vaccination
with Biontech every three months. “By
shortening the interval between vaccinations,
the aim is to improve protection against
serious diseases caused by the Omikron
variant in the population and to prevent
transmission,” explains the branch manager,
pharmacist Ulrike Müller. “The vaccination
protection already decreases 3-4 months after
basic immunization. The STIKO therefore recommends
a uniform interval of three months
between the 3rd and 4th vaccination.”
