The Skinny Rules are a bit reminiscent of the eating habits of our ancestors: berries, nuts, meat – but also a day without meat. And a lot of movement… The rules are just as valid today as they were 100,000 years ago. The body and metabolism function as they did then. In this respect, there are generally applicable rules that you should adhere to if you want to achieve certain successes or changes. Why is breakfast so important? Some people believe that you should start the day on an empty stomach. Others – like me – think that you should start the day with a certain amount of calories, that help for example to prevent hunger pangs during the day. There is also something called the carbohydrate combustion problem that can occur if you don’t supply something to the body in time, i.e. in the morning. Everyone is different of course, but if you want to keep up a level of stability in everyday life, you should start the day with a conscious breakfast. How strictly do you have to adhere to the Skinny Rules in order to achieve success in the long run? Every metabolism is different. For some people it is quick and easy, others have to be very tough on themselves. The rules help to make goals easier to achieve. Can you get and stay slim without exercising? It is believed that diet is responsible for 70% of a lean body, so you can say that in theory. But whether you are also physically fit is a different story. What role does sleep play in achieving fitness goals? We experience maximum regeneration during sleep. It’s also when we can burn calories very effectively without doing anything. A certain amount of hypoglycaemia and a calorie deficit also act like a booster for growth hormones. This fact can be used to burn fat and trigger regenerative metabolic processes. And that‘s why you should go to bed hungry? Exactly. The release of growth hormones is strongest between 12 noon and 2 am when your sugar levels are slightly lower, i.e. you have around 100 milligrams in your blood. NUTRITION THE SKINNY RULES 1. Drink a glass of warm water before each meal and at least three liters of water a day. 2. Avoid calories in beverages. Enjoy tea, coffee and juices only without sugar. 3. Add protein to every meal. 4. Reduce consumption of refined flour and grain, avoid bread. 5. Consume between 30 and 50 grams of fiber daily. 6. Consume a maximum of half a handful of nuts, berries and apples a day. 7. Avoid carbohydrates after lunch. 8. Study ingredients. 9. Consume appropriate portions. 10. Do not consume sweeteners. 11. Avoid meat at least one day a week. 12. Do not consume fast food or fried dishes. 13. Start each day with a hearty breakfast. Eggs are particularly rich in protein and low in carbohydrates. 14. Avoid particularly salty foods. 15. Vegetables belong on every menu. 16. Go to bed hungry. 17. Sleep well and consciously. Schedule a nap. 18. Work out and practice sports.
