The application has a high versatility and can be used for volume and<br />

profile measurements in several types of bunker storages. This specific<br />

software product derives from the product line CEWS Bulk Volume Module.<br />

Because of its robust design this system allows a reliable operation even<br />

at raw environmental conditions. This specific software product derives<br />

from the product line CEWS Bulk Volume Module.<br />

The application LaseBVB - Bulk Volume Bunker is a highly precise<br />

three-dimensional measurement system especially developed for<br />

measurements in bunker storages.<br />

In order to apply this measurement system a 2D or 3D laser scanner<br />

from the <strong>LASE</strong> 2000D/<strong>LASE</strong> 3000D Series is mounted above the<br />

bunker or box (2D in combination with crane drive and 3D for<br />

immovable installations) in order to scan the material in storage<br />

areas. Out of the obtained measurement data the LaseBVB - Bulk<br />

Volume Bunker software calculates the volume and the profile<br />

precisely.<br />

The system can be operated intuitively due to an user-oriented<br />

dialogue control and configuration wizards for simple commissioning.<br />

The software analyses the raw data and divides the measured volume<br />

into a grid pattern. Then the current filling level of each single field<br />

is transferred to the process control system. By this information the<br />

process control system recognises the removal/supply of material<br />

automatically. Important state messages are logged and clearly<br />

displayed for additional documentation purposes. For an integration<br />

in production plants all common interfaces are available, too.<br />

The application LaseBVC - Bulk Volume Conveyor is a highly precise<br />

two-dimensional measurement system especially developed for the<br />

measurement of materials on conveyor belt systems.<br />

For the receipt of exact measurement data a scan area across the<br />

conveying direction of the belt is projected by a 2D laser scanner. A<br />

two-dimensional image of the bulk material will be generated and<br />

compared to a so called „0-profile“ which has been taken during the<br />

initial commissioning.<br />

Out of the obtained data from the <strong>LASE</strong> CEWS application software<br />

calculates the volume flow of the material on a conveyor belt precisely<br />

- a simultaneous operation of even two conveyor systems is also<br />

possible. By the use of high-resolution laser scanners with a scan<br />

ratio of up to 300 scans per second the material can be recorded<br />

even at high transportation speeds. Special algorithms for the<br />

adjustment and calibration ensure high measurement accuracy. The<br />

system can be operated intuitively due to an user-oriented dialogue<br />

control and configuration wizards for a simple commissioning. For<br />

an integration in production plants these common interfaces are<br />

already integrated: Ethernet TCP/IP, Profibus DP, Analog 0...20 mA<br />

and Serial RS 422.<br />

The application has a high versatility and can be used for volume and<br />

profile measurements in several types of heaps and piles. This specific<br />

software product derives from the product line CEWS Bulk Volume Module.<br />

The application has a high versatility and can be used for volume and<br />

profile measurements of all different materials - such as stones, sand, ore<br />

or even wood chips - also in rough environments.<br />

The application LaseBVH - Bulk Volume Measurement is a highly precise<br />

three-dimensional measurement system especially developed for<br />

measurements in heaps or piles.<br />

Depending on the heap-size, one ore more 3D-laser scanners are<br />

installed on a machine (stacker/reclaimer) for the realisation.<br />

This scanner is „looking“ above from the machine and scans the<br />

heap profile. In connection with the current stacker position a<br />

3-dimensional image of the whole heap profile is developed and<br />

compared to a „0-profile“ which is created during the calibration. Out<br />

of the obtained data the <strong>LASE</strong> CEWS application software calculates<br />

the profile and the volume of the heap precisely.<br />

The system can be operated intuitively due to an user-oriented<br />

dialogue control and configuration wizards for a simple<br />

filling level of each single field is transferred to the process<br />

control system. By this information the process control system<br />

The application LaseTVM - Truck Volume Measurement is a highly<br />

precise 2D-/3D laser measurement system especially developed for<br />

the measurement of truck loading volumes.<br />

In order to measure transported goods on trucks exactly, 2D-/3D laser<br />

scanners from the <strong>LASE</strong> 3000D-C2-11x Series (resp. <strong>LASE</strong> 2000D-11x)<br />

will be used in combination with the LaseTVM-Software application. Next<br />

to the LaseTVM-3D-S (STATIC) for stationary processes the LaseTVM-<br />

3D-M (MOTION) version even ensures that a truck can be scanned as it<br />

drives through without stopping.<br />

The laser scanners are mounted on a frame in a central position above<br />

the truck lane. Within the 2D version one laser scanner measures the<br />

cross profile of the load and the other laser scanner tracks the truck.<br />

The 3D version only creates one scan plane which is used for static<br />

measurement processes. When a truck drives thorugh the measuring<br />

area a 3D image of the load is generated. The difference between the<br />

current material load and the empty truck gives the exact loading<br />

volume. The application is also available in combination with a RFID<br />

Scanner (for tagged trucks), a HD camera for documentation and a OCR<br />

camera for license plate capturing.<br />

This application has a high versatility and can be used for volume<br />

sand, ore or coal - which are transported on wagons by train.<br />

The product LaseRCD - Rail Car Dumper is a solution applied for the<br />

fully automated detection of material volumes as well as objects<br />

while the rail cars arrive at the dumping station before tipping.<br />

In order to measure transported goods on wagons exactly, 2D<br />

laser scanners from the <strong>LASE</strong> 2000D-11x Series will be used in<br />

combination with the LaseBTL-Software application.<br />

Besides the track two laser scanners each measure the position<br />

of the wagons. One further laser scanner is placed above the<br />

track in order to measure the filling degree before the loading<br />

process (emptiness control). For the possibility of wagon position<br />

determination, two further laser scanners measure from behind of<br />

the loading station - even when the train is already inside the loading<br />

station. Optionally an additional laser scanner can measure and<br />

verify the loading degree of each wagon. The rugged design of this<br />

system also allows reliable measurements and strong performances<br />

even in harsh environments.<br />

Altogether these three tasks can be operated by the application:<br />

In order to measure transported goods on wagons exactly, 3D<br />

laser scanners from the <strong>LASE</strong> 3000D-C2-11x Series will be used in<br />

combination with the LaseRCD-Software application.<br />

Two 3D-laser scanners (one per wagon) are mounted above the<br />

wagons and the rail car dumper. The application collects the scanner<br />

data and performs all needed calculations. Before tipping the wagons,<br />

the scanners are measuring the surface of the bulk material inside<br />

the wagons by swiveling a scan plane from one side of the wagon to<br />

the other.<br />

After the unloading procedure the scanners are swiveling back and<br />

measure the inner surface of each wagon for an emptiness control.<br />

Overview<br />

<strong>LASE</strong> 3000D Compact and Standard Series<br />

The high performance laser scanners by <strong>LASE</strong> are particularly designed for industrial applications with the background to<br />

create robust, modular and economic laser measurement systems. Our sensors out of the <strong>LASE</strong> 1000T Series are typically<br />

used for contactless distance, thickness or width measurements and especially built for the operation in harsh industrial<br />

environments. They are optical measuring instruments which work according to the triangulation principle. This technique<br />

ensures highest accuracies within µm of range.<br />

The laser scanners from the <strong>LASE</strong> 2000D Series are contactless two-dimensional distance measuring systems built for<br />

industrial environments and outdoor purposes. 2D profiles of the surrounding are scanned by a pulsed IR laser beam which<br />

is transmitted via a rotating mirror head. The 2D contour data of the scanned surroundings, which are figured in constant<br />

raw data, combine distance and angle values as delivered output by the scanner interface. The sensors transmit extremely<br />

short multiple light pulses, measure the running time to the object and back and then computes the distance.<br />

Finally the <strong>LASE</strong> 3000D Series consists of a mechanical swivel platform with an assembled 2-dimensional laser scanner for<br />

measuring tasks. The platform has a swivel table, which can be turned by a servo motor for the operation in swivel mode.<br />

A high resolution encoder is integrated within the servo motor and measures the exact turning angle of the swivel table<br />

simultaneously. By the assignment of 2D laser scan data with the encoder values (turning angle), the contactless reception<br />

of 3-dimensional measuring data can be handled.<br />
