people in particular, it shows an ever-growing
recruitment of highly gifted children
and young people – about 40 percent
of the current membership includes children
and young people below 18, for whom
specific projects are established. Mensa Cyprus
continues to work to get Cyprus education
to recognize the needs of highly
able and talented children and have gifted
education, care and support integrated
into Cyprus’s national strategy, while
it supports and promotes talent in the society.
It is Mensa Cyprus’s noble ambition
to establish a role in view of importance
attached to high intelligence as an untapped
resource, nurturing and support of
which can contribute to the society especially
during a crisis. Mensa events that have
been suspended during the Covid-19 pandemic
will resume in a festive manner on October
3rd with an open-air gathering to celebrate
Mensa’s 75th birthday anniversary.

Mensa Korea held a general meeting on
September 4th. Due to the Covid-19, the
meeting was held using Zoom, and the decisions
were made via electronic voting.
Mensa Korea is not only financially suffering,
as the former chairman has not returned
ownership of the company to the
new board even after his tenure has ended,
but also has not been able to resolve several
important issues related to the contracts.
However, if such problems are to be resolved,
more beneficial activities are expected
to be provided for the members.
At the Asia Chairmen meeting held in April,
Chairman of Mensa Korea, Eunjoo Lee,
showed the strong passion and commitment
to the next AMG, which led to Korea
being designated as the host for next AMG
in 2022. This was possible all thanks to the
supports from other countries. In South Korea,
most of the population are already vaccinated.
In the year 2022, in which the AMG
is going to be held, the risks of Covid-19 are
expected to decrease, and it is hoped that it
will be an opportunity for people from all
over the world, as well as Asian Mensan, to
participate and fully enjoy their stays in Korea.
When Mensans from other countries visit
Korea, Mensa Korea helps them with their
stays with not only the SIGHT coordinator,
but also by organizing meetings in the International
Affair Committee.

In the past two years our membership status
is around 100 active members, and currently
we are waiting for the right conditions
to do another massive testing to broaden
the number of our members. Meanwhile
we transferred our activities online. We
organized few online debates („Emotional
intelligence“, „Artificial intelligence worldwide
and Macedonia‘s tribute over the years“,
„Social intelligence in time of corona“
etc.). Our magazine is coming to life again,
since there had been a period when all activities
were paused and we had lost the status
of Provisional Mensa. We also assembled
a team that will work on the program
for Gifted Youth, but still, we are waiting for
the epidemiology situation to be better. So
things are going better for Mensa Macedonia
even when the world is on stand by.
