All of this happened in 1997, and ever since that time, Welcome to<br />
Austria has been active in attracting the relatives of diplomats and<br />
international civil servants who are accredited in Austria.<br />
Gabrielle Schallenberg fulfilled the<br />
important role of President for 15 years<br />
and until today, aged 83, she has<br />
always been interested and involved<br />
in whatever the association plans<br />
or does. Asked for advice on how to<br />
start off again after the many months<br />
of corona virus related restrictions,<br />
postponed or canceled programs<br />
and get-togethers, she suggests a big<br />
party at the Liechtenstein Museum<br />
which is “among the most important<br />
private museums of the world. The<br />
pieces of art kept in the palais are<br />
outstanding, especially the Golden<br />
Carriage in the big entrance hall<br />
which tells us much about the history<br />
of the last centuries”, Schallenberg<br />
states. Leaving Gabrielle Schallenberg’s<br />
beautiful home, we are impressed<br />
by her spirit, her enthusiasm, her<br />
knowledge and her empathy. It is a<br />
mission for all of us members of the<br />
board of Welcome to Austria to carry<br />
on her standards.<br />
