ENTRY LIST
Dear Motorsport Friends,
The Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland is finally
back. I’m looking forward to the upcoming season
with all the teams and drivers. 2020 will
undoubtedly be a special year in the history of
the one-make cup. On the one hand, due to the
delayed start to the season, because of the
coronavirus pandemic. On the other hand, it will
also be special because it kicks off with a highlight:
our joint race with the Porsche Carrera Cup
France at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. At
no other place in the world has as much history
been made as here – particularly by Porsche. I
will be all the more delighted to see more than
50 drivers do battle in their Porsche 911 GT3
Cup cars this weekend. I am intrigued to see
who will earn the right to call themselves a Le
Mans winner in the Carrera Cup.
PERFECT GRIP
Porsche and Michelin have a close and
successful partnership dating back to
2002 – from providing tyres for production
models to all forms of motorsport
activities. In both the Porsche works programme
and the majority of Porsche
one-make cups around the world, drivers,
teams and organisers put their faith in the
high-performance tyres from France.
Dear Motorsport Friends,
2020 is a special year, and not just because of the
pandemic. For us in France, it’s an important anniversary
as we celebrate 30 years of our Porsche
Carrera Cup France. From a brand point of view,
2020 also marks the 50th anniversary of
Porsche’s first overall victory in Le Mans with the
famous Porsche 917. And for both France and
Germany, it is the final year with the 911 GT3 Cup
991 II. To celebrate this occasion, Porsche
Deutschland and Porsche France have decided to
organise a unique joint event: the Porsche Carrera
Cup Le Mans. Our teams will be fortunate enough
to drive at the iconic circuit, which is of great significance
to Porsche. The drivers will be giving it
their all out on track as they demonstrate their
skills at the wheel and spread the Porsche GT
spirit, even in this 2020 edition.
OVER 50
COMPETITORS –
ONE CAR
The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is the standard car
in both the German and the French Carrera
Cup competitions. A four-litre, six-cylinder
Boxer engine in the rear of the GT race car provides
the necessary power.
The start of the 2020 season heralds a new
era for the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.
For the first time, the national onemake
cup will feature an electric safety
car: the Porsche Taycan Turbo. With 680
hp, the fully-electric car has no problem
keeping up with the Cup cars and leading
them in any dangerous situations during
the race. It promises to be an exciting season,
with the opening round together with
the French Carrera Cup in Le Mans, an
exciting field, and the first fully-electric
Porsche in the national one-make cup.
Three years ago, 61 drivers from 15 nations went head to head in the Porsche
Carrera Cup Le Mans. This year, there will once again be an overall winner and classifications
in national competitions. The 45-minute race forms the opening round
of this season’s Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. The French Carrera Cup kicked
off the new season last weekend in Magny-Cours.
DYLAN PEREIRA
Dylan Pereira has been racing in Porsche one-make cups since 2016. Now in his fifth year, the
man from Luxembourg has set his sights high: his goal is to win the title in the Porsche Carrera
Cup Deutschland. To achieve this, the 23-year-old is putting his faith in Förch Racing, a team with
a wealth of experience in the national one-make cup. In an interview, Pereira discusses the
opening round in Le Mans, Esports, and his first laps in a kart.
” When I was four
years old, my father sat
me in a kart for the first
time – since that day,
I have been passionate
about racing.”
Dylan, the new season of the Porsche Carrera
Cup Deutschland kicks off in Le Mans
this weekend. How much are you looking
forward to it?
Hugely! I have always said that when I go to
Le Mans, it will not be as a spectator, but to
go racing. This weekend, that is finally going
to happen. Every driver and motorsport fan
knows this track’s tradition, and I would
obviously like to challenge for the win.
The German Carrera Cup lines up alongside
the Porsche Carrera Cup France.
I think there will be some really intense battles
up front. The field in the French Carrera
Cup includes the likes of Jaxon Evans,
Ayhancan Güven and Marvin Klein. They are
all really good guys, who I have come up
against in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
The coronavirus pandemic meant there
were no motorsport events for a long time.
How did you spend that time?
At the start of the year, I was involved in the
Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East –
I did some coaching and drove in a few
races. After that, the many restrictions
meant there was no real motorsport – but
virtual racing was possible. I have been passionate
about Esports for a long time. During
the motorsport-free period, I spent more
time sim racing and took part in a lot of
online races.
Among other things, you lined up in the
virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Exactly. I drove a virtual Porsche 911 RSR
for Porsche customer team Project 1. That
was a great experience. We’ll have to wait
and see how much that will help me in the
real race in Le Mans. I have certainly memorised
the circuit in my head. Generally speaking,
you can use the simulator sessions to
try out different lines for the real races.
How did you get into motorsport?
My father, Guillaume, used to race karts.
When I was four years old, he sat me in a kart
for the first time – since that day, I have
been passionate about racing. Every weekend,
we used to go driving at one circuit or
another. Come sun, rain or snow. And if it did
actually snow, my father used to drive in
front of me in the car to clear the track.
You are not only a racing driver, but also a
soldier athlete. What does that mean?
I have been a soldier athlete in the Luxembourg
army since 2017. To make it to the
Olympic Games the Comité Olympique et
Sportif Luxembourgeois helps the best athletes
in the country. However, they have also
accepted racing drivers for a number of
years now.
In the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland,
you have a former cup driver as your team
principal at Förch Racing, in the form of
Robert Lukas. Is that an advantage?
It is always helpful for a driver when the
team principal has also spent some time in
a racing car. Robert Lukas can empathise
with a driver and knows what advice a driver
needs. In Julian Hanses, I also have a
young team-mate who I already know from
the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle
East. We get on really well.
What are your goals for this season?
My goal is to win as many races as possible
and ultimately to claim the title. Larry ten
Voorde will obviously be a big rival, but I
can see other drivers also putting themselves
in contention. For example, Joey Mawson
and Diego Bertonelli, who also attended
the trials to be the new Porsche Junior
last year.
Pereira continued to put pedal to the
metal in the virtual world while real
motorsport took an enforced break. He
finished third and fifth in the Carrera Cup
Race at Home competition, which was
held on the RaceRoom platform. Laurin
Heinrich won both races. A total prize
purse of € 15,000 was up for grabs.
FACH AUTO TECH
A total of eight teams line up in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland in
2020. In the French Cup, the drivers are spread across six teams.
The Nebulus Racing by Huber, Overdrive Racing by
Huber, and Förch Racing teams have been regulars
in the German one-make cup for many years.
Black Falcon Team Textar and CarTech Motorsport
by Nigrin are also experienced Porsche customer
teams. New to the German Carrera Cup are the GP
Elite and T3/HRT Motorsport teams. MRS GT-Racing
and Fach Auto Tech can call on a wealth of experience
in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup – as can Martinet
by Alméras and Lechner Racing, who line up in
the Porsche Carrera Cup France in Le Mans.
The French one-make cup also features the CLRT,
IMSA, Racing Technology and Sébastien Loeb
Racing teams.
FROM CUP DRIVER
TO WORLD CHAMPION
For many racing drivers, a title in a Porsche
one-make cup represented a milestone in
their motorsport career. This was the case
for Kévin Estre. The Frenchman, now 31
years old, won the Porsche Carrera Cup
France in 2011. Two years later, he added
the title in the German Carrera Cup. On the
back of this, he turned professional and
was promoted to the rank of Porsche works
driver. Last year’s 87th edition of the 24
Hours of Le Mans was a real highlight of
Estre’s career: alongside fellow Porsche
works driver Michael Christensen, he wrapped
up victory in the Drivers’ Championship
in the FIA World Endurance Championship
at the endurance classic.
