Orientation & Identity

Wenn es steht, braucht man nichts mehr zu investieren. Durch Umzüge und Umbauten
fallen aber laufend Veränderungen an, die zwar leicht im System zu adaptieren sind, aber
trotzdem finanziert werden müssen. Hier braucht es noch Bewusstseinsbildung.
// Wofgang Lengauer Von Besuchern und Patienten wird das System sehr gut angenommen,
weil es einfach und übersichtlich ist. Allerdings haben wir bis jetzt erst etwa ein Drittel
des gesamten Komplexes mit dem neuen System ausgestattet, der größere Teil muss
bis jetzt noch mit dem alten Bestand an Schildern leben. Erst bei kompletter Ausstattung
wird es lückenlos funktionieren, aber der Fortschritt ist jetzt auch schon deutlich spürbar.
Was wird von den Nutzern am besten angenommen?
// Wofgang Lengauer Interessanterweise das reduzierte Wording, mit der Ausnahme, dass
manche Bereiche gar nicht mehr angeschrieben sind, weil sie nicht patientenrelevant
sind, aber weil es dadurch klar und übersichtlich geworden ist. Auch die raumhohen Pfeile
kommen sehr gut an, weil sie so eindeutig sind, die kann man gar nicht übersehen.
In welchem Verhältnis stehen Orientierungssystem und Identität zueinander?
// Erwin K. Bauer Die Gesundheitsoffensive in Niederösterreich betrifft viele Punkte, die von
den Mitarbeitern bis zur effizienteren und technisch besseren Ausstattung reichen, alles
mit dem Ziel der optimalen medizinischen Versorgung der Bevölkerung. Dazu gehört u. a.
auch die Zusammenfassung von Standorten. So wurden das Psychiatrische Krankenhaus
Gugging und das Krankenhaus Tulln zusammengelegt. Es gibt jetzt das neue „Landesklinikum
Donauregion Tulln“, das die Identitäten zweier Häuser mit allen Schwierigkeiten
und Chancen vereint. Das neue Haus ist offener, freundlicher, die gemeinsamen

What is the relation between orientation systems and identity?

is part of this. The Gugging psychiatric hospital and the Tulln Hospital were consolidated
for this reason. Now the new facility is called the “Landesklinikum Donau region Tulln”,
which merges the identities of the two hospitals as well as the difficulties and opportunities
both have and offer.
The new clinic is more open and friendly, the common medical facilities can be used more
efficiently. Of course the staff of both institutions still has to learn to get along. They also
do so in the architecture they share that helps create an identity. They do so with their
names and the names of their departments as listed in the way finding system. The way
finding system establishes what the deal is, what services are offered. It creates identity
and shows changes in the way things are shown. The business card effect this has is
always underestimated.
The best way to implement these identity-building processes is to develop internal and
external communication along with the way finding system. We were able to introduce the
new building in other media as well in the case of this clinic. A book was published that
