Wie konntet Ihr denn das Leitsystem vorher ausprobieren? Gab es einen Test?
// Erwin K. Bauer Im Landesklinikum Lilienfeld haben wir eine Prototypphase eingeführt, um
unsere Entwürfe auf Wahrnehmung, Lesbarkeit und Akzeptanz zu testen. Wir haben die
Pläne und Lagepläne vor Ort aufgehängt und geschaut, wie die Leute darauf reagieren, ob
man Bodenbeklebung überhaupt wahrnehmen kann oder die Menschen einfach drüber
gehen ohne sie zu beachten.
Beim Landesklinikum Tulln haben wir erstmals farbig bedruckte Transparentfolien für die
Glasflächen eingesetzt. Je nach Auf- und Durchlicht, Tageslicht oder Nachtsituation verändert
sich der Eindruck, vor allem der Farben und Kontraste, stark. Das haben wir vorher
mehrfach bemustert.
Gibt es auch ein Budget für solche Tests?
// Erwin K. Bauer In Österreich gibt es keine ausgeprägte Kultur des Recherchierens oder
Testens. Auftraggeber sind stark auf ergebnisorientierte Dinge ausgerichtet – das hängt
vor allem mit dem Budget zusammen. Experimentieren und systematisches Untersuchen
wird budgetär meist nicht eingeplant, das muss man sich hart erkämpfen. Wenn aber die
Phase beim Research zu kurz gehalten wird, dann wird die Phase bei der Adaptierung
länger und teurer. Mittlerweile können wir gut argumentieren, dass sich Einsparungen in
der Recherche- und Planungsphase nicht rechnen.
Bewährt sich das System im Betrieb?
// Erwin K. Bauer Prinzipiell ja. Was noch zu wünschen wäre, ist die Akzeptanz laufender
Kosten. Man geht oft davon aus, dass es sich wie mit einem fertig gebauten Haus verhält.
Is there a budget for that kind of test?
// Erwin K. Bauer There isn’t a very strong research and testing culture in Austria. The clients
are very focused on result-oriented things – that mainly has to do with the budget.
Experimentation and systematic research generally isn’t planned in the budget, you have
to fight for these things. But the shorter the research phase is, the longer the adaptation
phase will be. We can argue that the savings in the research and planning phase aren’t
worth it pretty well by now. People are beginning to recognize that thorough planning with
a number of test runs can help avoid surprises in the operational phase.
Has the system proven itself in operation?
// Erwin K. Bauer Basically yes. The acceptance of operation costs would be desirable. It is
often assumed that things are like a completed building. No further investment is needed
the minute it is up. But moving and adaptations lead to changes that are easy to make to
the system but still have to be paid for. Awareness of this has to raised.
// Wofgang Lengauer Visitors and patients have reacted very well to the system because it’s
very simple and easy to understand. However, we have only equipped about a third of the
entire complex with it so far. The larger part of the complex still has to live with the old
signs. It will only work seamlessly once the whole complex has the new system, but the
improvement can already be felt clearly.
What do the users like most?
