Vector Signal Transceiver to Cover X-Band Through Ka-Band
Applications
ted and calibrated switching for
up to 32 channels. This enables
multichannel beamformer and
phased-array measurements
without the need for additional
infrastructure.
The PXIe-5831 complements
NI’s modular instrumentation
portfolio of more than 600 PXI
products, ranging from DC
to mmWave. It also offers NI
platform features such as highthroughput
data movement using
PCI Express Gen 3 bus interfaces
and performs subnanosecond
synchronization across PXI
modules with integrated timing
and triggering. Users can take
advantage of the productivity
of LabVIEW software, the flexibility
of the LabVIEW FPGA
Module and a vibrant ecosystem
of partners, add-on IP and applications
engineers. These benefits
help them adapt to fast-changing
technology and demanding technical
requirements so they can
deliver new systems on time and
on budget. ◄
NI vector signal transceivers
help engineers reduce the cost
and risk of design, validation
and test for radar and Satcom
devices with expanded frequency
coverage up to 44 GHz.
The PXIe-5831 vector signal
transceiver (VST) addresses
time-to-market challenges for
X-band, Ku-band and Ka-band
radar and satellite communications
(Satcom) components and
systems. The PXIe-5831 VST
with modular millimeter wave
(mmWave) heads expands the
VST product family. It delivers
1 GHz of instantaneous bandwidth
for generation and analysis
and features a high-performance
FPGA, so users can perform
faster and optimized measurements,
inline signal processing
and high-speed data transfer.
The PXIe-5831 combines the
PXIe-5820 baseband VST with
the PXIe-3622 vector signal
upconverter/downconverter for
direct RF generation and analysis
from 5 to 21 GHz. Modular
mmWave heads further expand
coverage to include frequencies
from 23 to 44 GHz with integra-
Tiny Embedded Antenna for Dualband WLAN
Antenova, Ltd. has added a
new, ultra-compact dualband
Wi-Fi antenna to its range of
tiny embedded antennas. The
antenna, named Minuta, is a
ceramic antenna measuring
1 x 0.5 x 0.5 mm making it
one of the smallest embedded
antennas available today.
Antenova has developed this
antenna for the newer 4.9...5.9
GHz frequency which is less
cluttered than 2.4...2.5 GHz
and gives enhanced performance
with less interference.
The Minuta antenna, part
number SRC2W006, operates
at 2.4...2.5 and 4.9...5.9
GHz and matches the Wi-Fi
802.11a/h/j/n/p/ac standards.
It offers designers some useful
flexibility in the layout of
a PCB, as it does not need a
position on a corner, it can be
placed along one of the long
edges of a board. The antenna
is ideal for access points and
portable devices, and in particular
Antenova recommends
Minuta for wearable technology
and body-worn devices
because it is less susceptible
to de-tune when used close to
the human body.
Revolutionary Timing Technology solves
Complex 5G Challenges
RFMW, Ltd. announced
design and sales support for a
MEMS-based oven controlled
oscillator (OCXO) platform.
SiTime’s SiT5711 OCXO combines
MEMS resonators with
programmable analog, innovative
packaging and highperformance
algorithms for
a vibration resistant solution
that’s up to 20 times better
than what’s currently available.
The SiT5711 offers ±5
ppb frequency stability and
50 ppt/K frequency slope.
Factory-programmed to any
frequency between 1 and 60
MHz, this OCXO is available
in a 9 x 7 mm package making
it the smallest OCXO available.
It’s also available in common
OCXO footprints such as 25
x 22 mm, 20 x 13 mm, and
14 x 9 mm to enable drop-in
replacement of legacy quartz
OCXOs. There are no restrictions
on PCB placement and no
mechanical shielding is needed
for thermal isolation. Applications
include 4G/5G remote
radio heads (RRH) and pole top
mounted radios, base stations,
SONET/SDH Stratum 3E, core
and edge routers, carrier class
switches, IEEE 1588 grandmasters
and instrumentation.
