are the legal issues raised by the information society, the legal and
social implications of copyright and new technologies, German,
European and international Copyright, as well as International
Intellectual Property Law.
Prof. Dr. iur. Dr. rer. pol. Peter Sester
Peter Sester studied law and took his Ph.D. in 1995 at the Ruprecht-
Karls-University, Heidelberg. He habilitated in 2001 at the Philipps-
University, Marburg. He also completed his studies in economics. He
spent time as visiting scholar at the Universities of Cambridge,
Montpellier, Aix-en-Provence and the London School of Economics.
Since 2002 Prof. Sester holds the chair of Civil law, Commercial and
Corporation law, German and international Economic law and
Comparative law at the University of Karlsruhe. In 2003, he also has
been appointed as a Honorary Professor at the Albert-Ludwigs-
University, Freiburg. He is a Member of both the Faculties of
informatics and economics at the University of Karlsruhe, and a
member of the faculty of law at the Albert-Ludwigs-University,
Freiburg. Prof. Sester’s main area of research is German and
International Economic law. In terms of methodology, he pursues a
comparative law and interdisciplinary approach. A main focus of his
interest is European Business and Foreign Trade Law, information
duties in public noted companies and capital markets’ law, and, in
particular, issues of financing (project financing, private public
partnership, instruments of refinancing such as asset backed
securities and mortgage bonds and debentures).
