Autonomous driving and<br />
its pitfalls<br />
Driverless cars which travel safely in traffic are<br />
certainly a spectacular development in today’s world. A<br />
number of automobile manufacturers are currently testing<br />
out the idea, and in the process they are, of course, relying<br />
on computer-controlled technology. The aim is to make<br />
relaxed driving possible, without you having to do the<br />
driving yourself. But, despite the advances,<br />
it is not yet possible for the vehicle to travel<br />
in ordinary street traffic, because challenges<br />
such as cyclists and other cars often present<br />
unpredictable obstacles. According to media<br />
reports, the constant interaction between<br />
all road users needs to be analysed using<br />
sensors as well as light signals and rapid<br />
processing of all the current data, and acted upon in a<br />
matter of seconds. Interpretation of behaviour and the fast<br />
reaction of the car are yet another form of artificial intelligence<br />
which will become a part of our everyday lives. The<br />
technology, however, is as yet nowhere near fully developed,<br />
and european and global manufacturers are involved<br />
in a tough competitive struggle. Who takes most effective<br />
advantage of the internet companies throughout the world<br />
is also important here. Because the interaction between<br />
mature automotive technology and software that is capable<br />
of learning, which reads data and refers to it in order to<br />
perform the appropriate action, is the most important factor<br />
in autonomous driving. At the same time, the personal<br />
safety of the vehicle and its passengers must be guaranteed<br />
against hackers and accidents. European manufacturers<br />
must strive to keep pace with this development, since<br />
the international competition always seems to be one step<br />
ahead of them. Because of their connections, they often<br />
have more opportunity to drive their developments forward,<br />
with the result that the european market is liable,<br />
little by little, to be outdistanced. The result of the race of<br />
the car manufacturers remains to be seen.<br />

ein entspanntes Fahren ohne jegliches Zutun des Fahrers<br />
ermöglichen. Doch trotz des Fortschritts<br />
kann das Fahrzeug noch nicht im alltäglichen<br />
Straßenverkehr bestehen, denn Herausforderungen<br />
wie Radfahrer, Fußgänger<br />
oder andere Autos sind oft unberechenbare<br />
Hindernisse. Laut Medien soll das Zusammenspiel<br />
aller Verkehrsteilnehmer ständig<br />
mithilfe von Sensoren und einer schnellen<br />
Datenverarbeitung analysiert und in Sekundenschnelle<br />
umgesetzt werden. Das Interpretieren von Verhalten und<br />
die schnelle Reaktion des Autos sind eine weitere Form<br />
der künstlichen Intelligenz, die einen Platz in unserem Alltag<br />
finden wird. Doch noch ist die Technik längst nicht ausgereift<br />
und die europäischen und die globalen Konzerne<br />
treten in einen harten Konkurrenzkampf. Dabei zählt, wer<br />
sich die weltweiten Internetunternehmen am effektivsten<br />
zu Nutze macht. Denn das Zusammenspiel von Automobiltechnik<br />
und einer lernfähigen Software, die Daten ausliest<br />
und weiterleitet, um die entsprechende Handlung auszuführen,<br />
ist der wichtigste Faktor bei autonomem Fahren.<br />
Dabei muss die persönliche Sicherheit der Fahrzeuge und<br />
der Insassen gewährleistet sein, z.B. vor Hackern oder vor<br />
Unfällen. Bei dieser Entwicklung müssen sich die nationalen<br />
Automobilkonzerne bemühen, Schritt zu halten, denn<br />
die internationale Konkurrenz scheint ihnen immer etwas<br />
voraus zu sein. Durch ihren Einfluss und die Verbindungen<br />
haben sie oft mehr Möglichkeiten, ihre Entwicklungen<br />
voranzutreiben, sodass der europäische Markt nach und<br />
nach abgehängt werden könnte. Wie das große Rennen<br />
der Autohersteller ausgeht, wird man dann sehen.

No cabe duda de que los coches autoconducidos<br />
que se desplazan con seguridad por el tráfico constituyen<br />
un desarrollo tecnológico espectacular de nuestros tiempos.<br />
Actualmente, algunos consorcios automovilísticos<br />
están sometiendo a ensayo esta idea, para lo cual han<br />
apostado por la tecnología controlada por ordenador. Con<br />
ello se pretende conseguir que el usuario tenga una conducción<br />
relajada sin ser el propio conductor. Sin embargo,<br />
a pesar del progreso, el vehículo aún no puede estar presente<br />
en la circulación diaria, ya que aún quedan retos por<br />
superar: ciclistas, peatones u otros coches a menudo son<br />
obstáculos imprevisibles. Según los medios, se pretende<br />
evaluar la interacción constante de todos los participantes<br />
en el tráfico con ayuda de sensores y señales luminosas y<br />
aplicarse un procesamiento rápido de los datos actuales en<br />
segundos. La interpretación de la conducta y la reacción<br />
rápida del coche son otra forma de inteligencia artificial<br />
que pasará a formar parte de nuestro día a día. Aun así,<br />
esta tecnología todavía requiere mucho perfeccionamiento<br />
y hay una competencia feroz entre consorcios alemanes<br />
e internacionales. En este sentido también cuenta quién<br />
aprovecha de forma más efectiva las empresas mundiales<br />
de Internet. Y es que la combinación de tecnología automovilística<br />
perfeccionada y un software capaz de aprender,<br />
que registre y transmita datos para ejecutar la respectiva<br />
acción, es el factor más importante en la conducción autónoma.<br />
Ante esta evolución, los consorcios automovilísticos<br />
alemanes tienen que esforzarse por mantener el ritmo,<br />
puesto que la competencia internacional parece estar<br />
siempre un poco por delante de ellos. Debido a su gran<br />
influencia y relaciones con los responsables importantes de<br />
la toma de decisiones, a menudo tienen más posibilidades<br />
de impulsar sus desarrollos, con lo que el mercado alemán<br />
podría ir quedándose atrás poco a poco. Está por ver cómo<br />
sale la gran carrera de los fabricantes de coches y si los<br />
coches autónomos podrán ofrecer lo que se promete.<br />

adjusted. Threads with 8 cones are suitable<br />
for achieving tension in the nasolabial folds,<br />
the 12 cones are ideal for tightening the alveolar<br />
ridge, while the threads with 16 cones are used<br />
for the neck. Positioning the threads is simple:<br />
it is simply a matter of selecting three points for<br />
the injection of local anaesthesia, which serve as<br />
the points where the needles place the threads.<br />
They are then pulled and held in place, before<br />
being severed. This causes some small wrinkles<br />
or depressions that disappear within two to<br />
three days. The treatment takes around 30 minutes,<br />
with the result lasting up to a year. A specialist<br />
surgeon analyses the skeletal structure of<br />
the face, the slackness of the facial muscles, the<br />
fatty tissue areas and the condition of the skin in<br />
order to provide a diagnosis for the right treatment.<br />
Analysing the slackness allows the points<br />
under the most tension, which are different in<br />
each half of the face, to be determined. The aim<br />
is to achieve the greatest possible effect with as<br />
few threads as possible. The result can be seen<br />
immediately after the treatment and improves<br />
progressively over the following months. After<br />
the procedure, the patient can return to their<br />
everyday life, work and home, remaining responsible<br />
for their own skincare regime. It is also<br />
common for other supplementary treatments like<br />
fillers, botox or peels to be undertaken to treat<br />
areas not enhanced with the threads.<br />

angebracht sind, kann die Länge individuell angepasst<br />
werden. Die Fäden mit 8 Kegeln sind geeignet, um<br />
Spannung in den Nasolabialfalten zu erreichen, mit 12<br />
Kegeln wird eine optimale Straffung der Kinn-Kiefer-<br />
Linie erreicht, während die Fäden mit 16 Kegeln den<br />
Hals glätten. Die Platzierung der Fäden ist einfach. Es<br />
ist nur notwendig, drei Punkte für die Lokalanästhesie<br />
auszuwählen, wo die Nadeln die Fäden platzieren.<br />
Dann werden die Fäden ins Gewebe eingezogen und<br />
fixiert. Es kommt zu kleinen Falten oder Absenkungen,<br />
die im Laufe von zwei oder drei Tagen verschwinden.<br />
Die Behandlung dauert ca. 30 Minuten und das<br />
Ergebnis hält bis zu einem Jahr an. Für die entsprechende<br />
Diagnose und Behandlung analysiert ein spezialisierter<br />
Chirurg die Schädelstruktur, die Schlaffheit<br />
der Gesichtsmuskeln, die Bereiche des Fettgewebes<br />
und die Beschaffenheit der Haut. Bei der Analyse der<br />
Schlaffheit werden die Punkte der größten Spannung<br />
bestimmt, die in jeder Gesichtshälfte unterschiedlich<br />
sind. Das Ziel ist es, eine größtmögliche Wirkung mit<br />
möglichst wenig Fäden zu erreichen. Das Ergebnis ist<br />
unmittelbar nach der Behandlung zu sehen und verbessert<br />
sich in den folgenden Monaten progressiv.<br />
Nach dem Verfahren kann der Patient in seinen Alltag,<br />
zur Arbeit oder nach Hause, zurückkehren, wo er<br />
sich um die nachfolgende Pflege der Haut selbstständig<br />
kümmern kann. In der Regel werden auch andere<br />
ergänzende Behandlungen wie Füllstoffe, Botox oder<br />
Peelings angewendet, um Bereiche zu behandeln, die<br />
nicht mit den Fäden behandelt wurden.<br />

ALCOHOL AL VOLANTE,<br />
UN PELIGROSO CÓCTEL<br />
Alkohol am Steuer ist eine Gefahr<br />
Que el alcohol al volante es un peligroso<br />
cóctel, no es ninguna novedad hoy en día. Tampoco<br />
quiero escribir en mi artículo mensual en esta<br />
revista sobre las consecuencias morales o sanitarias,<br />
sino más bien recordar al lector que en España<br />
en estos casos nos encontramos ante una conducta<br />
criminal de acuerdo con el artículo 379.2 del código<br />
penal español. Ya he escrito en el pasado mucho y<br />
ampliamente sobre este tema, pero lamentablemente<br />
lo olvidan mis clientes, siempre en mitad de la<br />
noche. Podrán imaginarse ustedes lo agradable que<br />
es cuando a las dos o tres de la mañana me despierto<br />
por el timbre de mi teléfono móvil. Por regla<br />
general oigo al otro lado de la línea a un agente de<br />
policía o guardia civil, dado que el cliente en ese<br />
momento ya no entiende nada y solamente piensa<br />
en la posibilidad de pasar el resto de la noche en<br />
una celda de la comisaría de policía, donde dormirá<br />
bastante mal. A partir de ese momento yo tampoco<br />
duermo mejor que él y además tengo que comprobar<br />
que por suerte alguno de mis clientes ha sido<br />
detenido por conducir notablemente afectado por el<br />
alcohol. Lo cierto es que podía haber sido peor, igualmente<br />
podía haber fallecido en un accidente ocurrido<br />
como consecuencia del alcohol o haber matado<br />
en un accidente a un buen padre de familia que se<br />
interpusiera en su camino. Entrando en el tema la<br />
pregunta que se me ocurre es que se puede beber<br />
en España, si después se quiere conducir. Las cifras<br />
de alcohol permitidas en España son las siguientes:<br />

permiso de conducir desde hace más de dos años<br />
no deben superar 0,5 g/L de alcohol en sangre y<br />

Ich möchte in meiner Rubrik in diesem Magazin<br />
auch nicht über moralische oder gesundheitliche<br />
Konsequenzen schreiben, sondern die Leser daran<br />
erinnern, dass man in Spanien in einem solchen<br />
Fall den Tatbestand einer strafbaren Handlung<br />
gemäß Artikel 379.2 des spanischen Strafgesetzbuchs<br />
erfüllen kann. Ich habe zwar über dieses<br />
Thema in der Vergangenheit viel und umfangreich<br />
geschrieben, aber leider vergessen es meine Mandanten<br />
immer dann, wenn es darauf ankommt: mitten<br />
in der Nacht. Sie können sich vorstellen, wie<br />
angenehm es ist, um zwei oder drei Uhr morgens<br />
vom Klingeln des Telefons geweckt zu werden. In<br />
der Regel habe ich dann einen Polizeibeamten in<br />
der Leitung, da der Mandant nichts mehr versteht<br />
und sowieso nur daran denkt, dass er möglicherweise<br />
den Rest der Nacht in einer Zelle auf der<br />
Polizeiwache verbringen muss und sehr schlecht<br />
schlafen wird. Ich schlafe jetzt auch nicht viel besser<br />
und durfte dabei mit verhaltener Zufriedenheit<br />
feststellen, dass mein Mandant lediglich wegen<br />
Trunkenheit am Steuer verhaftet wurde. Er hätte<br />
dieses absolut vermeidbare Risiko im schlimmsten<br />
Fall mit seinem Leben oder und mit dem Leben<br />
von Drittpersonen bezahlen können. Kommen wir<br />
zum Thema: Wie viel darf man in Spanien trinken,<br />
wenn man später noch fahren möchte? Die Alkoholgrenzwerte<br />
in Spanien sind folgende: Fahrer von<br />
Kraftfahrzeugen, die einen Führerschein länger als<br />
zwei Jahre besitzen, sowie Fahrradfahrer dürfen<br />
einen Blutalkoholgrenzwert von 0,5 g/l und einen

0,25 mg/L de alcohol aspirado. Los conductores de<br />
camiones, taxis, autobuses, ambulancias, así como<br />
los de vehículos que dispongan del permiso de<br />
conducir desde hace menos de dos años, no deben<br />
superar los 0,3 g/L de alcohol en sangre y 0,15<br />
mg/L. Si sobrepasan los valores mencionados y les<br />
cogen, en todo caso habrá una sanción de tráfico,<br />
pero puede que también se haya podido cometer un<br />
delito. Antes de que entrase en vigor el 1 de julio de<br />
2015 la última reforma del código penal, se encontraba<br />
en el hecho delictivo únicamente el conductor<br />
que sobrepasará los 0,6 mg/L de aire aspirado y los<br />
1,2 g/L en sangre. Desde julio de 2015 se aplica una<br />
legislación mucho más severa. Se comete el hecho<br />
delictivo cuando se sobrepasan los 0,5 g/L de alcohol<br />
en sangre y 0,25 mg/L de alcohol aspirado, y en<br />
algunos casos, incluso sin llegar a estos valores. La<br />
calificación como tipo delictivo no depende sólo de<br />
los valores medidos, sino también de la apariencia<br />
general del conductor en el momento de practicarle<br />
las pruebas y del grado de irresponsabilidad con<br />
el que estuviera conduciendo. La sanción de tráfico<br />

sowie Kraftfahrzeugfahrern, die den Führerschein<br />
noch keine zwei Jahre haben, mindert sich<br />
der Blutalkoholgrenzwert auf 0,3 g/l und der Luftwert<br />
auf 0,15 mg/l. Sollte man die genannten Werte<br />
überschreiten und dabei erwischt werden, wird<br />
in jedem Fall eine Strafe ausgesprochen. Darüber<br />
hinaus kann ein strafrechtlicher Tatbestand erfüllt<br />
werden. Vor der letzten Reform des Strafgesetzbuches,<br />
die am 1. Juli 2015 in Kraft getreten ist, wurde<br />
der strafrechtliche Tatbestand immer dann erfüllt,<br />
wenn Luftwerte von mindestens 0,60 Promille oder<br />
Blutwerte von 1,2 g/Liter gemessen wurden. Seit<br />
dem 1. Juli 2015 hat sich die Gesetzgebung weiter<br />
verschärft. Eine strafrechtliche Verfolgung erfolgt<br />
nun schon bei Überschreitung der Grenzwerte von<br />
0,5 g/l (Blutalkohol) beziehungsweise von 0,25 mg/l<br />
(Luftmessung) und in manchen Fällen sogar, wenn<br />
diese Grenzwerte nicht erreicht wurden. Das Strafmaß<br />
hängt zum einen von den gemessenen Werten<br />
ab, zum anderen von dem Eindruck, den der Fahrer

aplicable en estos casos se encuentra entre 500 y<br />
1.000, además de la pérdida de entre cuatro y seis<br />
puntos del permiso de conducir. En España también<br />
existe un registro de puntos de extranjeros, que no<br />
son residentes en España. En casos especialmente<br />
graves se puede perder el permiso de conducir. Esto<br />
también es aplicable a extranjeros, puesto que se<br />
les puede retirar la autorización para conducir dentro<br />
del territorio español. Si el incidente se considera<br />
un delito, la pena mínima de prisión asciende a un<br />
año, aunque por regla general no se cumple cuando<br />
no se tienen antecedentes penales. El permiso de<br />
conducir también se retira por un mínimo de un año.<br />
Además de lo anterior y dependiendo de la situación<br />
económica del conductor se le impone una multa<br />
de 1.000 €. En los casos en los que el límite legal se<br />
haya superado mínimamente, la fiscalía suele estar<br />
dispuesta a negociar el tiempo de retirada de la<br />
autorización para conducir, así como la duración de<br />
la pena de prisión. Condición para ello es por supuesto<br />
que el detenido se arrepienta de su conducta.<br />
En todo caso el conductor detenido y condenado<br />
tendrá antecedentes penales y en caso de nueva<br />
conducta contenida entre los delitos contra la seguridad<br />
del tráfico, perderá el permiso de circulación y<br />
por regla general acabará en la cárcel. Quede claro<br />
que no deseo a mis clientes, ni a mis lectores que<br />
caigan en un control policial de alcoholemia, incluso<br />
aunque se encuentran alcoholizados. Mucho mejor<br />
sería para todos los intervinientes en el peligroso<br />
arte de conducir, que se cumplieran las normas.<br />
Entonces todos podríamos dormir tranquilos.<br />

besonders schlimmen Fall kann der Führerschein für<br />
die Dauer von bis zu einem Jahr entzogen werden.<br />
Das gilt auch für Ausländer, da jedem In- oder Ausländer<br />
die Fahrerlaubnis auf spanischen Straßen<br />
entzogen werden kann. Sollte es zu einem strafrechtlichen<br />
Verfahren kommen, liegt die Mindesthaftstrafe<br />
bei einem Jahr, die allerdings meistens<br />
auf Bewährung ausgesprochen wird. Der Führerschein<br />
wird ebenfalls für mindestens ein Jahr entzogen.<br />
Darüber hinaus wird abhängig von der wirtschaftlichen<br />
Situation des Fahrers, eine Geldstrafe<br />
von mindestens 1000 Euro verhängt. Bei geringer<br />
Überschreitung der Grenzwerte kann man mit der<br />
Staatsanwaltschaft eine Verkürzung der Haftstrafe<br />
und des Führerscheinentzugs verhandeln. Voraussetzung<br />
dafür ist, dass der Beschuldigte Einsicht<br />
für sein Fehlverhalten zeigt. In jedem Fall gilt der<br />
Verurteilte nach Verhängung des Strafmaßes als<br />
vorbestraft. Bei erneuter Zuwiderhandlung während<br />
des Führerscheinentzugs landet man in der Regel<br />
unwiderruflich im Gefängnis. Selbstverständlich<br />
wünsche ich es meinen Mandanten und Lesern<br />
nicht, dass sie alkoholisiert in eine Kontrolle geraten.<br />
Besser für alle Beteiligten wäre es aber, sie<br />
würden sich vorschriftsmäßig verhalten. Dann kann<br />
ich in Ruhe schlafen und Sie auch!<br />

and therefore requires special care. Fat and oilbased<br />
creams and lotions are recommended to compensate<br />
for the lack of moisture and lipids.<br />
Cleansing should also be as mild as possible.<br />
Immer mehr Menschen leiden unter einer trockenen und<br />
sensiblen Haut. Diese kann ihre wichtigste Aufgabe,<br />
nämlich ihre Schutzfunktion gegenüber äußeren schädlichen<br />
Einflüssen, nicht mehr in ausreichendem Maße<br />
erfüllen und benötigt deshalb eine besondere Pflege. Um<br />
den Feuchtigkeits- und Lipidmangel auszugleichen, ist es<br />
wichtig, der Haut Feuchtigkeit und Fette zuzuführen, um<br />
die äußere Hautbarriere zu stärken und die Schutzfunktion<br />
zu bewahren. Neben Cremes und Lotionen, die einen<br />
hohen Fett- oder Öl-Anteil enthalten, sollte auch die Reinigung<br />

Schutzfilm auf der Haut, der die Hornschicht mit Lipiden<br />

RABBITS WITH DENTAL PROBLEMS<br />
Kaninchen mit Zahnproblemen<br />
A two-year-old female rabbit called June<br />
had been struggling with dental problems for<br />
half a year. Her owner noticed that she no longer<br />
ate as much of her<br />
food as normal<br />
and that she<br />
now preferred<br />
small grains<br />
instead of hay<br />
and fresh vegetables.<br />
When she<br />
also noticed that<br />
June had lost weight,<br />
alarm bells began to<br />
ring, and she brought<br />
June in to us to see the<br />
vet.<br />
We examined her thoroughly,<br />
which revealed<br />
that she weighed just<br />
1.3 kg (down from the<br />
previously recorded 2<br />
kg) and her coat had<br />
lost its lustre.<br />
Nothing unusual was<br />
found in a general examination, but a malposition<br />
of the molars, forming what are known as hooks,<br />
was identified while examining her mouth.<br />
Rabbits’ teeth grow throughout their entire lives,<br />
and hooks can form if they are not sufficiently<br />
worn down.<br />
These hooks disturb, damage and inflame the<br />
gums, which can lead to a reduction in feed<br />
intake and loss of appetite. Pain in the mouth<br />
causes rabbits to refuse larger pieces of food,<br />
June ist eine zwei Jahre alte Kaninchendame,<br />

kämpft. Ihrem Frauchen fiel auf, dass sie nicht mehr<br />
die normale Menge von ihrem Futter fraß und dass<br />
sie lieber kleine Körner anstatt Heu und frischem<br />
Gemüse bevorzugte. Sie bemerkte auch, dass sie an<br />
Gewicht verloren hatte,<br />
was sie letztendlich alarmierte<br />
und deswegen zu<br />
uns in die Tierklinik kam.<br />
June wurde bei uns<br />
gründlich untersucht,<br />
ihr Gewicht lag nur bei<br />
1,3 kg (sie soll mal 2 kg<br />
gewogen haben) und ihr<br />
Fell war nicht mehr glänzend.<br />
In der allgemeinen<br />
Untersuchung wurde<br />
nichts ungewöhnliches<br />
festgestellt, aber bei der<br />
Untersuchung der Maulhöhle<br />
konnte man eine<br />
Fehlstellung der Backenzähne<br />
mit Bildung von<br />
sog. Haken feststellen.<br />
Kaninchen haben die Eigenschaft, dass ihre Zähne<br />
ihr Leben lang wachsen und es, sollten sie keinen<br />
ausreichenden Abrieb haben, zu Hakenbildungen<br />
kommen kann. Diese Haken berühren, verletzen und<br />
entzünden das Zahnfleisch, was zu einer Reduzierung<br />
der Futteraufnahme bis hin zur Appetitlosigkeit<br />
führen kann. Durch die Schmerzen im Maulbereich<br />
verweigern sie größere Futterstücke und die Fellpflege<br />
lässt auch nach. Im schlimmsten Fall kann<br />
die Appetitlosigkeit schnell zum Tod führen, da die

and they may also neglect to care for their fur.<br />
In the most severe cases, loss of appetite can<br />
quickly lead to death, as insufficient intake of<br />
food can cause the intestinal bacteria to decompensate,<br />
meaning a build-up of gas-forming<br />
bacteria.<br />
The causes of such malposition can either lie in<br />
genetics or in a bad diet. While the former unfortunately<br />
carries a bad prognosis, if the latter is<br />
the case, then it can be corrected with the right<br />
change of diet. Rabbits are pure herbivores that<br />
eat mainly hay and fresh vegetables.<br />
Unfortunately, today they are all too often provided<br />
with the wrong type of food in the form of<br />
small pellets or seed mixtures: these are consumed<br />
faster, meaning a significant reduction to<br />
abrasion of the teeth – abrasion which is vital in<br />
avoiding the formation of hooks.<br />
Following her mouth examination, June was<br />
immediately anaesthetised so that the hooks<br />
could be removed and the injuries around her<br />
mouth treated. X-rays of the jawbone were also<br />
taken, which unfortunately diagnosed a chronic,<br />
degenerative dental disease.<br />
June recovered quickly after the surgery: her<br />
feed intake increased, and she quickly gained<br />
weight again. She was also able to care for her<br />
fur again, restoring a glossy shine to her coat.<br />
Due to the chronic disease that was diagnosed<br />
in June’s case, she has to come in to the dental<br />
check-up at regular intervals of 6 to 8 weeks, so<br />
that her teeth can be corrected. Her disease is,<br />
unfortunately, incurable, but regular check-ups<br />
make it possible to improve her quality of life and<br />
maintain her weight at the original 2 kg.<br />
Darmbakterien durch eine mangelhafte Nahrungsaufnahme<br />
dekompensieren und sich sog. gasbildende<br />
Bakterien vermehren.<br />
Die Gründe einer Fehlstellung können entweder<br />
genetisch bedingt sein oder durch eine falsche<br />
Ernährung hervorgerufen werden. In ersterem Fall<br />
gibt es keine günstige Prognose, die zweite Ursache<br />
lässt sich durch die passende Ernährungsumstellung<br />
gut vermeiden. Kaninchen sind reine<br />
Pflanzenfresser, die hauptsächlich Heu und frisches<br />
Gemüse zu sich nehmen. Leider wird heutzutage<br />
häufig falsches Futter in Form von kleinen Pellets<br />
oder Samenmischungen angeboten, was zu einem<br />
schnellen Verzehr führt und der Abrieb zwischen<br />
den Zähnen deutlich reduziert wird. Diese Abrieb ist<br />
sehr wichtig, um eine Hakenbildung zu vermeiden.<br />
Nach der Mauluntersuchung musste June direkt<br />
in eine Narkose versetzt werden, um die Haken zu<br />
entfernen und die Verletzungen um Maulbereich zu<br />
behandeln. Zusätzlich wurden Röntgenaufnahmen<br />
des Kiefers durchgeführt, durch die leider eine chronische,<br />
fortlaufende Zahnkrankheit diagnostiziert<br />
wurde.<br />
Nach dem chirurgischen Eingriff ging es June<br />
schnell wieder besser. Die Futteraufnahme nahm zu,<br />
was schnell zu einer Gewichtszunahme führte. Ihrer<br />
Fellpflege konnte sie sich auch wieder widmen und<br />
das Fell ist nun wieder glänzend.<br />
Aufgrund der chronischen Erkrankung im Falle von<br />
June muss sie in regelmäßigen Abständen von 6 bis<br />
8 Wochen zur Zahnkontrolle kommen, bei der ihr die<br />
Zähne korrigiert werden. Leider ist es bei ihr eine<br />
unheilbare Krankheit, aber durch die regelmäßigen<br />
Kontrollen ist es möglich, ihre Lebensqualität zu<br />
steigern und ihr Gewicht wieder auf 2 kg zu halten.<br />

PEOPLE OF LITTLE USE,<br />
OFTEN POTENTIALLY HARMFUL<br />
Kniearthroskopie bei älteren Patienten wenig sinnvoll,<br />
oft potenziell schädlich<br />
Arthroscopic surgery on the knee when<br />
carried out for pain caused by arthrosis is only<br />
marginally more effective than a placebo. This is<br />
the conclusion arrived at by a number of individual<br />
studies and now, in addition, a meta-analysis.<br />
Therapeutic knee arthroscopy with partial removal<br />
of the meniscus is one of the commonest surgical<br />
procedures in the USA and in Europe. In Germany,<br />
around 100,000 such operations are carried<br />
out every year on patients with degenerative joint<br />
diseases. However, pain from arthrosis is not eliminated<br />
more effectively by this procedure than it is<br />
by the use of non-surgical methods: this has been<br />
demonstrated by multiple studies.<br />
Meta-analysis of nine studies<br />
A meta-analysis carried out in Denmark summarises<br />
the results of nine relevant studies and draws the<br />
same conclusion: therapeutic arthroscopy with<br />
lavage and, where appropriate, with supplementary<br />
debridement is of little use in routine operations<br />
for cases of degenerative damage to the<br />
knee joint. As Jonas Bloch Thorlund and other<br />

Die therapeutische Kniearthroskopie mit partieller Entfernung<br />
des Meniskus gehört zu den häufigsten operativen<br />
Eingriffen in den USA und in Europa. In Deutschland werden<br />
jedes Jahr etwa 100.000 solcher Operationen bei<br />
Patienten mit degenerativen Gelenkerkrankungen durchgeführt.<br />
Dadurch werden Arthroseschmerzen im Knie<br />
allerdings nicht besser beseitigt als mithilfe nicht operativer<br />
Maßnahmen; dies haben mehrere Studien gezeigt.<br />
Metaanalyse über neun Studien<br />
Eine Metaanalyse aus Dänemark fasst die Ergebnisse<br />
aus neun relevanten Studien zusammen und kommt zu<br />
demselben Schluss: Die therapeutische Arthroskopie mit<br />
Lavage und gegebenenfalls zusätzlichem Débridement ist<br />
im Routineeinsatz bei degenerativen Kniegelenkschäden<br />
wenig sinnvoll. Wie Jonas Bloch Thorlund und andere<br />
Autoren von der University of Southern Denmark zeigen<br />
konnten, bringt sie im Hinblick auf den Endpunkt Schmerzen<br />
nur einen Hauch mehr als verschiedene konservative

has in many cases evaporated. Knee surgery also<br />
brings with it the potential for a series of serious<br />
side effects such as thromboembolism and infections.<br />
These certainly occur relatively infrequently<br />
but, in correlation to the frequency of the operation,<br />
even a small percentage of these incidences<br />
is statistically relevant.<br />
The studies included in the meta-analysis include<br />
data from a total of 1270 patients with a relatively<br />
broad spectrum of diagnoses.<br />
Therapeutic arthroscopy was compared with nonsurgical<br />
measures such as sham surgery, exercise<br />
and treatment of pain with medication. The age<br />
range of the patients was between 49.7 and 62.8<br />
years. Before the procedure the subjective pain<br />
scale was on a level of between 36 and 63 mm on<br />
a 100 mm analogue scale (VAS).<br />
Frequently minimal effect, of limited duration<br />
The outcome of the primary analysis of results<br />
with regard to postoperative pain was significant<br />
from a statistical point of view: the operation had<br />
a short-term effect, however the benefit did not<br />
last long.<br />
Conclusion for clinical practice:<br />
Every indication for arthroscopic surgery on older<br />
people should be subject to very strict guidelines.<br />
Since changes due to arthrosis are almost always<br />
present in the knee, hope of a full recovery should<br />
not be too strongly encouraged. A combined, conservative,<br />
minimally invasive treatment plan is<br />
often called for. As a priority measure we recommend<br />
advising patients of the indication for exercise<br />
and weight loss before any surgical procedure.<br />

Therapien. Bereits nach ein bis zwei Jahren hat sich der<br />
Effekt außerdem oft wieder verflüchtigt. Dabei ist die<br />
Knie-OP potenziell mit einer Reihe ernster Nebenwirkungen<br />
wie Thromboembolien und Infektionen belastet.<br />
Diese treten zwar verhältnismäßig selten auf, aber bezogen<br />
auf die Häufigkeit der Operation, ist schon ein kleiner<br />
Prozentsatz solcher Ereignisse zahlenmäßig relevant.<br />
Die in die Metaanalyse einbezogenen Studien beinhalten<br />
Daten von insgesamt 1270 Patienten mit einer<br />
relativ großen Bandbreite von Diagnosen. Verglichen<br />
wurde die therapeutische Arthroskopie mit nicht chirurgischen<br />
Maßnahmen wie Schein-OP, Training oder<br />
medikamentöser Behandlung der Schmerzen. Die<br />
Patienten waren im Schnitt zwischen 49,7 und 62,8<br />
Jahre alt. Vor dem Eingriff bewegte sich die subjektive<br />
Schmerzstärke auf einem Niveau zwischen 36 und<br />
63 mm auf einer 100-mm-Analogskala (VAS).<br />
Oft Minimaler Effekt, von kurzer Dauer<br />
Das Ergebnis der primären Ergebnisanalyse im Hinblick<br />
auf postoperative Schmerzen war statistisch<br />
gesehen signifikant: Die Operation zeigte zwar kurzfristig<br />
Wirkung; der Nutzen hielt jedoch nicht lange an.<br />
Fazit für die Praxis:<br />
Jede Indikation zur arthroskopischen Operation am älteren<br />
Menschen sollte sehr strengen Richtlinien unterliegen.<br />
Da nahezu immer arthroseartige Veränderungen im<br />
Knie vorliegen, sollten die Hoffnungen auf eine vollständige<br />
Genesung nicht zu sehr geschürt werden. Oft sind<br />
kombinierte konservativ minimalinvasive Behandlungskonzepte<br />
angesagt. Hier kommen langlebige doppelt<br />
quervernetzte Hyaluronsäurepräparate (z.B.<br />
Crespine +), PRP oder in Zukunft auch<br />
Stammzellentherapie (aus Fettgewebe<br />
gewonnen) zur Anwendung. Wir<br />
empfehlen als vorrangige Maßnahmen<br />
die Aufklärung des Patienten,<br />
Bewegung und Gewichtsreduktion vor<br />
jeglicher operativen Indikationsstellung.<br />

Spain does not have the Easter<br />
bunny, so familiar and popular in Germany,<br />
who hops along with a basket of colourfully<br />
painted eggs through people’s gardens.<br />
Here we would like to explain which traditions<br />
are to be found in the sunny south.<br />
In Spanien hoppelt der in Deutschland<br />
bekannte und beliebte Osterhase nicht mit<br />
einem Korb voll bunt bemalter Eier durch<br />
den heimischen Garten. Welche Traditionen<br />
im sonnigen Süden gepflegt werden, möchten<br />
wir Ihnen hier erläutern.<br />
It is a fact well-known far beyond the borders of<br />
Spain that its inhabitants love to party with passion.<br />
And the vivacious Southern Europeans make no<br />
exception when it comes to the important, indeed<br />
most important festival of the year. The Easter festivities<br />
extend from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, a<br />
period known as Semana Santa, and are accompanied<br />
by elaborate processions. These symbolise the<br />
sufferings of Jesus on his way to the Crucifixion.<br />
Hundreds of people, sometimes over a thousand, take<br />
part in each procession. The starting point is always<br />
the church of the local community of the respective<br />
fraternity. From there the believers, who are attired<br />
as penitents in long habits with capes, begin their<br />
walk while carrying sacred figures<br />
on their shoulders through<br />
the city. Depending on the region,<br />
these processions are accompanied<br />
by the populace either in<br />
total silence or with music. The<br />
most famous processions take<br />
place in Seville, where more<br />
than 50 fraternities participate<br />
in them, each lasting from four<br />
to six hours. Following the processions,<br />
the family gathers for<br />
a traditional meal without meat.<br />

machen die temperamentvollen Südländer auch bei dem<br />
wichtigen, wenn nicht sogar dem wichtigsten Fest im Jahr<br />
keine Ausnahme. Die Osterfeierlichkeiten dauern vom<br />
Palmsonntag bis Ostersonntag, der sogenannten Semana<br />
Santa, an und werden von aufwendigen Prozessionen<br />
begleitet. Diese symbolisieren den Leidensweg Jesu auf<br />
seinem Weg zur Kreuzigung. Zu jeder Prozession gehören<br />
mehrere hundert bis über tausend Personen. Ausgangspunkt<br />
ist jeweils die Kirche der Heimatgemeinde der<br />
jeweiligen Bruderschaft. Von hier aus starten die Gläubigen,<br />
die als Büßer in lange Kutten mit Kapuzen gekleidet<br />
sind, und tragen Heiligenfiguren durch die Stadt. Je nach<br />
Region werden diese Prozessionen<br />
von der Bevölkerung in aller Stille<br />
oder mit Musikkapellen begleitet.<br />
Die berühmtesten Prozessionen<br />
finden in Sevilla statt, hier nehmen<br />
über 50 Bruderschaften an den<br />
Prozessionen teil, die zwischen 4-6<br />
Stunden dauern können. Nach den<br />
Prozessionen trifft sich die Familie<br />

The Easter festivities often have very specific<br />
local features. For example, in Catalonia it is the<br />
custom to sing Easter carols, known as "caramelles".<br />
In Castile and the Basque country, a big straw<br />
puppet - often filled with fireworks - is burned. On<br />
Mallorca, the whole family meets on Easter Monday<br />
for a traditional picnic. Semana Santa concludes<br />
with an extended festive meal just for the family.<br />
Traditional dishes include roast lamb, salt cod and<br />
"robiols" (similar to ravioli). The classic Easter pastry<br />
is the "mona de Pascua", into the centre of which<br />
a hard-boiled egg is baked. Traditionally, it is broken<br />
open on the forehead of a friend and then eaten. For<br />
Spaniards, Easter is both a religious and folk festival,<br />
with people coming together with their families<br />
to mark Easter traditions and celebrate exuberantly<br />
to cheerful music.<br />

Den Abschluss der Semana Santa bildet ein ausgedehntes<br />
Festmahl im Kreise der Familie. Traditionell<br />
kommen Lammbraten, Stockfisch oder Robiols (gefüllte<br />
Teigtaschen) auf den Tisch. Als klassisches Ostergebäck<br />
wird »Monas de Pascua« gereicht, ein kleiner Hefekringel,<br />
in dessen Mitte ein hartgekochtes Ei eingebacken wurde.<br />
Traditionell wird dieses an der Stirn eines Freundes aufgeschlagen<br />
und im Anschluss verzehrt.<br />
Für die Spanier ist Ostern ein religiöses Fest und<br />
Volksfest zugleich, an dem man gemeinsam mit der Familie<br />
traditionellen Osterbräuchen nachkommt und zu fröhlicher<br />

been a great success. All the art lovers followed the<br />
invitation to the Gran Hotel Benahavis on the 4th<br />
of February 20<strong>18</strong> to see the artworks and a workshop<br />
for children. During the past 5 years this event<br />
was constantly growing and thanks to Betty Fooks<br />
it’s now a permanent establishment on the Costa<br />
del Sol. More and more artists are exhibiting their<br />
paintings, ceramics and photographs to the public.<br />
