wider. Und auch die Design- und Architektur-Ausbildung kommt
in Bewegung.
eingerichtet.
Dr. Sascha Peters
Leiter des modulor Material-Kompetenzzentrums
Editorial
“70 percent of all new products are based on new materials!” These
are the results of a study in which materials are considered to be the
“force driving innovations.” This theme is gaining in significance,
and the knowledge of material properties and processing is becoming
a key requirement for designers and architects. Just how conscious
people in the creative field are of this development can be seen above
all from the fact that many successful databases, trade fairs, publications
and competitions on these issues have since been established.
Design and architecture training are also adjusting. Many universities
are establishing programs and professorships at the interface between
technology and design. The creative sector is thus preparing itself for
a process of change we can attribute to the rising importance of the
creative disciplines for technology companies.
There are many causes for this trend: While companies have
barely considered the professional creative force a direct target group
until now, producers and processors of materials have recently been
focusing communications more intensively on designers and architects.
It would appear that the realization is dawning that it is usually
the creative service providers who make the decision on the choice
of materials and no longer just the engineers and builders. This has,
in part, to do with the shortage of people employed in the technical
disciplines which is forcing companies to buy in engineering services
from designers. On the other hand, producers consider those in the
professional creative force as their contact partners when it comes to
developing the market for technical innovations and making a marketable
product from an innovation. Thus, once again this year, form
is devoting a special issue to the topic of materials.
Nike Mercurial SL:
Kicken mit Karbon
Nike hat den ersten Fußballschuh vorgestellt,
der fast vollständig aus Karbon besteht.
Drei Jahre dauerte die Entwicklung
des 190 Gramm schweren Konzeptschuhs
Mercurial SL, der von Chef-Designer Peter
Hudson gezeichnet wurde. Ein spezielles
Verfahren sorgt dafür, dass die normalerweise
hochfeste Kohlefaser zu einem weichen
Oberschuh gegossen werden kann;
die Sohle besteht aus einem siebenschichtigen
Kohleverbundwerkstoff mit TPU
und Polyurethan. Der erste Spieler, der
ihn trage n durfte, war Cristiano Ronaldo
im diesjährigen Champions-League-Finale,
das Manchester United trotz seines verschossenen
Elfmeters gewann. Seit Juli
Kicking with carbon. Nike has introduced
the first soccer boots made almost completely
of carbon. It took three years to develop
the 190-gram concept shoes, Mercurial SL,
drawn by Head Designer Peter Hudson.
A special process ensures that the normally
highly rigid carbon fiber can be molded into
a soft upper; the sole consists of a sevenlaye
with TPU and polyurethane. The fi rst player
to try them out was Cristiano Ronaldo in
Manchester United won despite his missing
a penalty. The Mercurial SL has been on sale
Trustseal von Kurz:
Kampf gegen Kopisten
Der Heißprägefolien-Spezialist Kurz hat
sein optisches Sicherheitszertifi kat Trustseal
um drei neue Effekte erweitert. Trustseal
basiert auf lichtbeugenden Strukturen, die
in einem proprietären Verfahren computerbasiert
erzeugt werden. Je nach Lichteinfall
werden individuell wählbare Motive oder
optische Effekte erkennbar, die die Echtheit
eines Produkts beweisen. Neu hinzugekommen
in der Reihe der Trustseal-Effekte ist
Nanopic, Bilder mit einer Aufl ösung von
teilweise über 50 000 dpi, die nur unter einer
Speziallupe zu erkennen sind. Neu ist auch
Latent Contrust, ein Effekt, der das Sicherheitssiegel
nur bei der Betrachtung unter
einem extrem fl achen Blickwinkel preisgibt.
Overlapping Dynakey ist ein verstecktes
Element, das erst durch das Aufl egen
eines Spezialfi lters sichtbar wird.
Fighting copyists. The hot stamping specialist
Kurz has expanded its optical safety certificate
Trustseal to include three new effects.
Trustseal is based on light-bending structures
which are produced in a proprietary computer-based
process. Depending on how the
light falls, individual selected motifs or optical
effects can be recognized, proving the
authenticit y of the product. New in the Trustseal
effects range is Nanopic, images with
a resolution at times over 50,000 dpi, which
can only be recognized under a special magnifying
glass. Also new is Latent Contrust,
an effect which is only visible when viewed
from an extremely flat angle. Overlapping
Dynakey is a hidden element which is only
visible when a special filter is laid on it.
Schmutzresistente
Fassadenfarbe
Forscher der BASF haben ein neuartiges
Bindemittel entwickelt, durch das Hausfassaden
länger sauber bleiben. Die Innovation
kommt aus der Nanotechnologie.
Kleinste anorganische Silicat-Partikel
werde n homogen in organische Polymerteilchen
wässriger Dispersion eingearbeitet.
Es entsteht eine Nanokomposit-Dispersion,
die vor allem in Fassadenfarben zum Einsatz
kommt, etwa in Herbol-Symbiotec von
Akzo Nobel. Im Vergleich zu herkömmlichen
Farben haben die neuen Anstriche
deutliche Vorteile: Sie sind schmutzresistenter,
farbstabiler und trotzen Witterungseinfl
üssen, ohne zu reißen oder zu kreiden.
Dabei bleibt die Farbe atmungsaktiv.
Außen wände müssen somit nicht mehr
so oft gestrichen werden.
Dirt-resistant façade paint. BASF researchers
have developed an innovative new binding
material which keeps building façades clean
for longer. The innovation derives from nanotechnology.
Tiny inorganic silicate particles
are homogeneously worked into an aqueous
dispersion. This forms a nano-composite
dispersio n which is mostly used in façade
paints, for example in Herbol Symbiotic by
Akzo Nobel. Compared with conventional
paints, the new paints have clear advantages:
They are more dirt-resistant, have more
stabl e color and resist the effects of weather
without cracking or becoming chalky. The
paint remains breathable.
Reißfestes
Superpapier
Eine Gruppe schwedischer und japanischer
Forscher hat ein Nanopapier aus feinsten
Zellulosefasern entwickelt, das so reißfest
wie Eisen sein soll. Für die Herstellung
wird ein aus Holz gewonnener Zellulosebrei
zunächst unter äußerst hohem Druck
durch ein extrem dünnes Gitter gepresst.
Dabei werden allerfeinste Fasern gewonnen,
die – zu einer speziellen Lösung verarbeitet
und mit bestimmten Enzymen versetzt –
zu einem dünnen Film gegossen und ge -
tro cknet werden. Heraus kommt ein extrem
vor allem im Bereich der Nanotechnologie.
Tearproof super paper. A group of Swedish
and Japanese researchers have developed
a nano paper from very fine cellulose fibers
which is said to be as tearproof as iron. In
order to make it, a cellulose mixture derived
from wood is pressed through an extremely
thin grate under very high pressure. This pro -
d uces extremely fine fibers which can be processed
into a special solution, offset with
certai n enzymes and then poured into a thin
Wer heute Produkte und Lösungen gestaltet, sollte
sich nicht allein auf die allerneuesten High-Tech-
Materialien verlassen. Viele Designer greifen der -
Zusammenhang oder kombinieren sie mit
hochkomplexen Innovationen.
Doch was zunächst
etwa beim Space Shuttle.
durchzusetzen scheint.
Auch das, was Designer und Architekten
heute entwickeln, erscheint ausgesprochen ambivalent
– es gibt äußerst simple Konzepte und hochkomplexe
Produkte. Ein Paradebeispiel für die neue
Einfachheit ist der Hundert-Dollar-Laptop, den Yves
Béhar gestaltet hat. Angetrieben von einem Seilzuggenerator
und einer Handkurbel, soll der Computer
auch Kindern in den entlegensten Gegenden der
Welt Wissen vermitteln.
bestimmen. Längst vergessene Herstellungstechniken
erleben derzeit in der Neo-Craft-Bewegung
eine Renaissance. Und durch die Verwendung herkömmlicher
Materialien in völlig neuen Kontexten
refl ektieren. Materialität bedeutet heute also Hochtechnologie
und Einfachheit zugleich. Alles scheint
Weise einzusetzen.
In designing products today one should not limit
oneself to the newest high tech materials. Many designers
today avail themselves of simple ideas and
conventional materials, extract these from the original
contexts or combine them with highly complex
innovations. We demonstrate how high tech and
low tech can complement one another.
shape (reminiscent of a US space shuttle) somehow
suggest it might be something special. The president of
the Origami Airplane Association has a vision, which at
fi rst consideration seems totally absurd. Takuma Toda
wants to throw his paper airplanes from the ISS space
station and have them land safely on earth. But as every
child knows, when material enters the atmosphere it
is burnt by the high temperatures. The Japanese, however,
can explain quite simply what at fi rst seems incredible.
When the speed of descent is that slow the
friction is so minimal that much less heat develops than
with a space shuttle. Also, the plan is to use a special
paper made of long sugar cane fi bers which is much
heavier and stronger than the normal offi ce paper and
which, once chemically treated, should withstand the
thermal strain.
New simplicity: The $100 laptop is
charged using a hand crank. After
use, you can throw the cups on the
they are made of a biologically
degradabl e plastic based on PLA.
It is not surprising that we have never dared to send a
paper plane through outer space ... and the same applies
to many other projects. What we see here is a
trend which can currently be discerned in many product
areas: On the one hand, high tech innovations in the
fi elds of robotics or bionics are being advanced, while,
on the other hand, proven constructions and materials
are being used to develop new ap plications
outside the usual fi elds. Simple
but intelligent so l u tions can keep
step with highly com plex technical
products. While Fest o has announc ed
the development of jellyfi sh-like robots
with autonomous swarm intelligence
(Aqua Jelly) the use of a sail to
power freight ships is being herald -
ed as a revolu tionary in novation (Sky
Sails). Experts met at the professional
conference on clay in 2008 to discuss
the sustain ability of the natural con -
struction ma terial, and one known to
and used by the fi rst human s, while
at the same time, biolo gically degrad -
able plastics you can throw on the
comp ost heap along with your veg -
etable scraps are be coming a reality.
Composite ma terials such as Hylite
and Hybrix are being used in aircraft
construction, but can also be used to make suitcases or
to mount pictures. In the future, recyclable cellulose
plates will be used by the electronics industry. The difference
between high tech and low tech is no longer a
sign of quality. This appears to be being recog nized
across all segments.
What designers and architects are currently developing
also seems to be extremely ambivalent – these
are very simple concepts and highly complex products.
A prime example of the new simplicity is the 100-dollar
laptop designed by Yves Béhar. Driven by a cable-tension
generator and a hand crank this laptop should also
be able to deliver knowledge to children in the remotest
No more cable jungle: The iShirt
parts of the world. “One laptop per child” is the catchy
title of the project. It was only to be expected that children
would fi rst mostly toy with the computer but this
does not change the principle. Simple and understandable
solutions have once again found their place in a
society which – after whole industrial branches were
transferred to low-wage countries – lost the feeling of
how the creative processes of products
take place and what possibilities
there are for individually determining
form, materiality and color. In the neocraft
movement, long-forgotten manufacturing
techni ques are experiencing
a renaissance. And by using conventional
materials in completely new
contexts our environment is changing
into a vast realm of new possibilities.
Plasters become jewelry, lanterns get
fl uffy textile coverings and hotels look
like monolithic ice cubes.
Yet often there are many years
of development behind seemingly
simple solutions. This can be seen, for
example, in the self-adhesive textiles
(Gecko Multifi x) which have been on
the market now for some months.
And this will no doubt also be the case
with ‘smart materials’ in particular,
whose functional complexity cannot be seen on the
outsid e: Textiles that conduct electricity enable you to
enjoy mobile media (wear your computer, as it were)
and thermo-chromed coatings supply optimal climatic
conditions by refl ec ting sun rays that fall on glass facades.
Today materiality means high tech and simplicity
at the same time. And anything evidently goes in an
age of massive upheaval and great challenges. Low
tech meets high tech. The next decade belongs to innovations
in materials and technologies – and the designers
and architects who understand how to use
materials intelligently.
Zukunft Nano
The Nano Revolution comes
bereits 2015 in sämtlichen Wirtschaftsbranchen
eine wichtige Rolle spielen. Welche Anwendungsmöglichkeiten
gibt es bereits, welche kommen auf
uns zu? Der Überblick von Sylvia Leydecker ist ein
Auszug aus ihrem Buch „Nanomaterialien in Architektur,
Innenarchitektur und Design“.
Viele Produkte werden heute mit dem Stichwort
„Nano“ beworben, andere Firmen jedoch vermeiden
dies bewusst.
schaffen. Die Nano-kritische ETC Group (Action
Group on Erosion, Technology and Concentration)
immer keine allgemeinverbindlichen Regulierungen
hinsichtlich des Umgangs mit Nanotechnologie.
Dabei spielen Nanomaterialien schon jetzt in
verbessern. So erhöht eine Hautcreme mit nanoskaligen
TiO 2-Partikeln, die auf der Haut unsichtbar
sind und deshalb in großer Konzentration verwendet
werden können, deutlich den UV-Schutz. Wären
die Partikel größer, wäre bei gleichem Schutzfaktor
ein unerwünschter weißer Cremeschleier auf der
Haut zu sehen. Medizin, Life Sciences und Pharmazie
Zeit steht bevor!
As yet it is still rare to come across the term “nano”
in public if, for example, you are buying an outdoor
jacket or a hearing aid. Nevertheless, more and
more products are being launched which are made
with the help of nanomaterials. If forecasts are correct,
by as early as 2015 nanotechnology will be
play ing an important role in all businesses. Which
possibilities for its use already exist and which can
we expect to see? The overview by Sylvia Leydecker
is an excerpt from her new book “Nanomaterials in
Archi tecture, Interior Architecture and Design.”
Many products are advertised using the label “nano”,
however some fi rms choose to leave this out quite deliberatel
y, possibly for fear of negative press and the
concomitant loss of reputation. A decision for or against
explicit labelling is at present largely a matter of the respective
marketing strategies. However, should the
label ling of nano-based products become statutory, this
would provide welcome clarifi cation. In 2007, the nanocritical
ETC Group (Action Group on Erosion, Technology
and Concentration) held a competition for a nano symbol
to stimulate further discussion on this issue, as at
present no general regulation for how to handle nanotechnology
exists.
Nanotechnology already plays a major role in
many branches – in the cosmetic industry, in medicine,
in electronics, and in the automobile and food industry.
No wonder that, for example, the cosmetic industry discovered
nanotechnology so early: Strong UV protection
wound infection s at an early stage.
can be achieved using TiO 2 nanoparticles. Due to the
nanoscalar size of the particles, they are invisible on the
skin even when present in large quantities. If the particles
were larger a cream of the same UV protection
factor would have a visible white creamy appearance.
Medicine, life sciences and pharmaceutics benefi t from
nanotechnology, which for example helps improve the
reception of implants by the body. Advances in the treatment
of cancer have been made possible by the ability
to allow agents to target tumor cells directly without
damaging the entire organism in the process. Antibacter
ial hearing aids have signifi cantly reduced the incidence
of infl ammation among wearers. Health insurers have
recognized this and are meanwhile willing to pay for
such innovative equipment. Anti-fogging mirrors for stomatoscopes
help dentists work more easily. Likewise
antibacterial catheters contribute to a reduction in infections
in hospitals.
Modern cars already make use of scratch-resistant
paints that retain their gloss longer by protecting
against scratching that can result from quartz dust when
driving or against abrasion from car washes. Mirrors
darken photochromatically as the light changes. Headlamp
casings can be made self-cleaning with the help of
photocatalysts. Motorcycle helmets with anti-fogging
visors improve road safety for the rider and similar technology
in sports goggles improves visibility for swimmers
or snowboarders. Nanotechnology also contributes
to the improved performance of computers whilst
enabling components to become ever smaller. So-called
“embedded systems”, whose implementation is largely
a factor of miniaturisation, can be found everywhere –
from the coffee machine to the cash dispenser to the
electronics in car dashboards. Minute transistors are
manufactured with the help of nanotubes.
Environmental technology – energy, climate protection,
water / wastewater and recycling – is a fi eld of
ever increasing importance. A central aspect is the conservation
of water as the most valuable resource and
global water provision. With the help of nanotechnology
dirty water can be cleansed using photocatalysts, which
contributes towards providing clean drinking water.
Anti-refl ective coatings improve the effi ciency of photovoltaic
systems, thereby reducing CO 2 emissions. Recycling
can be simplifi ed through the use of “debonding
on command” systems that ease the separation of materials
from one another for separate reprocessing.
Bond-on-command systems contribute towards longterm
heavy-duty adhesion between steel components,
for example in the construction of wind farms.
With the help of nanotechnology dirty water
can be cleansed using photocatalysts, which
contributes towards providing drinking water.
The applications from the fi eld of construction range
from scratch-resistant lacquers and antibacterial paints,
dirt-repellent textiles and self-cleaning glass to air-purifying
concrete, highly effi cient insulation materials and
easy-to-clean sanitary ceramics. According to Lux Research,
in comparison to other products, such materials
and surfaces come onto the market at a relatively early
stage in their development but then need a long time to
become established. Applications in electronics and IT
come onto the market only once they are more fully
developed but spread much more rapidly. As such, given
we are in the early days in the overall development of
“nano”, the truly high-tech architectural visions await us
in the future. An exciting period lies ahead.
Finely printing. Refining is the special field of the Bielefeld-based
famil y business Gräfe, which as early as the early 1970s was one
of the pioneers of embossed printing in Germany. Moreover, today
Gräfe has specialized in refinement techniques such as cold foil
transfer, blind stamping, lacquering and foil lamination which give
books, magazines, packaging, labels and job printing a refi ned image.
In contrast to the United States, for example, refinement techniques
are if anything used rather sparingly and restrainedly in Germany,
according to Frank Denninghoff, one of the managers at Gräfe. But
if you use them well, you can create your own spectrum of experiences
which goes beyond pure product uses: “In this way you activate more
senses, rouse emotions and make your product more desirable.”
Black and light. Innovative fiber composite products are the special
field of Becker Carbon. The company works as a supplier in all areas
– be they the car industry, racing, measuring and rehabilitation technology
for clients around the globe. The spectrum of services ranges
from product design to serial production. A super-light, robotic welding
tong whose normal 40-kg weight Becker Carbon was able to reduce
to 3.8 kilograms by using carbon fibers attracted particular attention.
Becker Carbon, however, aims to establish carbon as a material
in other fields as well. Given its light weight and even fabric structure
the material is highly suitable for the aesthetic, innovative design of
commodity objects.
Kreativ drucken. Ungewöhnliche Materialien
und Veredelungstechniken sind bei
Druckproduktionen heute gefragter denn
Doch viele Gestalter scheuen den
Einsatz solcher Materialien, weil sie Druckverhalten
nicht einschätzen können. Das Buch
„Die kreative Druckproduktion“ will hier
Abhilfe schaffen und präsentiert zahlreiche
these because they cannot estimate what the
Freely moldable porcelain. The porcelain film
Keraflex which is extremely thin and freely
moldable, was launched by Kerafol. The internationally
patented material is available
in various degrees of thickness between 0.5
and 1.0 mm. The porcelain foil can be cut,
stamped, perforated, laminated, printed,
folded, creased, bent and embossed as desired,
before undergoing the conventional processes
of dying, printing and glazing. Various
projects in which the film has already been
Innovative Furniere. Das Schweizer Subunternehmen
der Danzer Group, Vinterio,
hat eine innovative Holzoberfl äche auf den
Markt gebracht. Das ebenfalls Vinterio
genannt e Produkt zeichnet sich durch seine
gleichmäßigen Oberfl ächenmuster aus, die
dank eines neuen Produktionsverfahrens
jederzeit reproduziert werden können; die
jeweiligen Charakteristika der verwendeten
Holzart bleiben dabei gewahrt. Außerdem
hat Vinterio festere Leimfugen und eine
bessere Materialausnutzung als herkömmliche
Holzfurniere. Das neue Material ist
in drei Produktlinien erhältlich: Stratus
Classic und das in einer feineren Streifenbreite
angebotene Stratus Superior bestehen
aus je einer Holzart, während sich
bei Nimbus verschiedene Holzarten kombinieren
lassen , um außergewöhnliche
Oberfl ächen zu erzielen.
Innovative veneers. Vinterio, a Swiss subcontractor
of the Danzer Group has launched
an innovative wooden surface. The product,
which likewise goes by the name of Vinterio,
is characterized by its even surface pattern,
which can be reproduced at any time thanks
to a new production process; the respective
characteristics of the type of wood used remain
in tact. Moreover, Vinterio uses stronger
glued joints and better material than conventional
wood veneers. The new material
is available in three product lines: Stratus
Classic and Stratus Superior offering a finer
strip width of one type of wood, whereas
Nimbus can combine various types of wood
to achieve unusual surface impressions.
Advertorial Materials
Mit Corian bauen. Der Werkstoff Corian
kommt seit kurzem auch in der Fassadengestaltung
zum Einsatz. Der französische
Architekt Jean-Christophe Masnada vom
Büro King Kong hat das Wellnesshotel
Seeko’o im Hafen von Bordeaux erstmals
komplett mit dem äußerst haltbaren und
witterungsbeständigen Material verkleidet.
DuPont hatte dafür eigens ein spezielles
Befestigungssystem entwickelt: Die drei
mal sechs Meter großen Corian-Paneelen
werden von horizontal verlaufenden Aluminiumprofi
len gehalten, die von außen
unsichtbar sind; bei Bedarf können die zehn
Zentimeter starken Rahmen auch Isoliermaterial
aufnehmen. Corian eignet sich
auch deshalb für Außenfassaden, weil der
Pfl egeaufwand sehr gering ist: Kratzer und
andere Schäden kann man leicht vor Ort
reparieren, Graffi ti vergleichsweise einfach
entfernen. Das Material wurde auch im
Innere n des Hotels verwendet, für Waschtische
und auch für den viereinhalb Meter
langen Empfangstresen.
Building with Corian. For a short time, the
material Corian is also used in façade design.
For the fi rst time, French architect Jean-
Christophe Masnada from the studio King
Kong has completely covered a building with
the extremely weather-resistant material: the
wellness hotel Seeko’o in Bordeaux. DuPont
developed a special mounting system for it:
the 3 x 6 meter Corian panels are held by
horizonta l aluminum profi les which are invisible
from the outside. If required, the 10-cmthick
frames can also hold insulation ma -
te rial. Corian is thus also suitable for external
façades as so little maintenance is required.
Scratches and other damage can be easily
repaire d on the spot and graffiti can be relatively
easily removed. The material was also
used inside the hotel, for washstands and for
the 4.5-meter-long reception counter. Incidentally,
the name of the hotel is a reference
to the smooth white surface of the façade –
Seeko’o comes from the Inuit language,
mea ning iceberg or glacier.
Farbige Fassaden. Das Zürcher Unternehmen
Swissfi ber entwickelt seit acht Jahren
Fiberglasprodukte für den Bau. Nun haben
die Schweizer eine besonders dünne Fiberglasplatte
auf den Markt gebracht, die sich
speziel l für vorgehängte hinterlüftete Fassaden
eignet: Swissfi ber Skin 01 f.
For eight years now, the
Zuric h-based company Swissfiber has been
developing fiberglass products for buildings.
Now they have launched a particularly thin
fiberglass plate which is suitable for nonbearin
g, rear-ventilated façades: Swissfiber
Skin 01 f. The lightweight, semi-transparent
and durable panels are available in four
standard formats measuring up to 2.4 x 4
meters, and can be used both in façade design
for new buildings and for renovating old
build ings, as they make a good cladding over
the insulation layer. Given their light weight,
massive support structures which could inhibit
insulation performance are not required.
The fiberglass panels, which come in eleven
colors, can also be used as filling elements
for balconies and as wall and door elements.
Gläserne Schaltzentralen. Das Glasveredelungsunternehmen
Irlbacher bietet das
patentiert e Verfahren IMPAtouch an, mit
dem sich eine einfache Glasplatte in ein
beliebiges elektronisches Bedienelement
verwandeln lässt – von der einfachen Fernbedienung
bis hin zum Schaltelement für
hochkomplexe medizinische Geräte. Der
dazu erforderliche Herstellungsprozess
gliedert sich in drei Phasen: Zunächst werden
per Siebdruck Bedienfeldanzeigen,
Logo s und Beschriftungselemente auf die
Rückseite der Platte aufgebracht. Danach
werden die elektrischen Leiterstrukturen
aufgedruckt und im Ofen eingebrannt, bevor
die elektronischen Bauteile aufgelötet
werden. Der Vorteil solch hochwertiger
Bedienelement e: Sie sind kratzfest, witterungsbeständig
und leicht zu reinigen.
Glass control centers. The glass finishing
company Irlbacher produces the patented
process IMPAtouch, with which a simple
glass plate can be transformed into an electronic
control element as desired – from simple
remote control to a control element for
highly complicated medical equipment. The
manufacturing process required is divided
into three phases: First, the user display, logos
and labeling elements are screen-printed onto
the rear of the panel. Then the electricityconducting
structures are pressed on and
baked on before the electronic components
are soldered on. The advantages of such
high-quality user elements: They are scratchresistant,
weatherproof and easy to clean.
Effektvoll drucken. Lackeffekte zur Veredelung
von Druckprodukten liegen im
Trend, doch meistens sind für die Umsetzung
ein Doppelllacksystem oder mehrere
Maschinendurchläufe erforderlich. Mit
den neuen Senolith-Twin-Effektlacken von
Weilburger Graphics lassen sich nun aber
auch Matt / Glanz- und Struktur / Glanz-
Effekt e ohne großen technischen Aufwand
erzielen. Und man braucht nur ein Lackwerk
dafür. Für die Darstellung von Matt-
oder Struktureffekten sorgt eine Öldrucklackkomponente;
abschließend wird ein
Glanzlack aufgetragen, der die unterschiedlichen
Lackeffekte herausarbeitet. Wegen
ihrer minimalen Eigenfärbung, ihrer geringen
Vergilbungsneigung und der erhöhten
Kontrastdarstellung zwischen glänzenden
und matten Partien liefern die neuen Twin-
Effektlacke nun noch bessere Ergebnisse.
Effective printing. Paint effects for refining
printed products are really in vogue. Mostly,
however, a double coating system or several
machine runs are required. With the Senolith
Twin Effect coatings by Weilburger Graphics,
matt/gloss and structure/gloss effects can
now be achieved without going to technical
extremes. All you need is one printing unit.
An oil printing ink component is responsible
for the matt or structured effects; finally, a
gloss lacquer is applied which shows off the
various coating effects.
