1954 beweist BMW, dass es mit seinem 500-ccm-
Rennmotorrad auch in der Seitenwagenklasse
ganz vorn mitfährt: das Seitenwagen-Gespann-
Team Wilhelm Noll und Fritz Cron kann nach
Siegen beim Großen Preis von Deutschland und
beim Großen Preis der Schweiz auch den
Großen Preis von Italien für sich entscheiden.
Auch bei den Rennen in Belfast, Spa und der Isle
of Man belegt das Team zwei zweite und einen
dritten Platz. Damit gelingt es Noll und Cron den
Weltmeistertitel erstmals nach Deutschland
zu holen.
Winning combination.
In 1954 BMW proved that with its 500 cc racing bike it
could also vie with the front-runners in the sidecar class.
After winning the German Grand Prix and the Swiss
Grand Prix, the sidecar team of Wilhelm Noll and Fritz
Cron also managed to secure victory in the Italian
Grand Prix. In the events in Belfast, Spa and the Isle of
Man as well, the team claimed two second places
and one third. Noll and Cron thus brought the world
championship title home to Germany for the first time.
