Nach fünf Jahren Entwicklungszeit wird 1975
im Münchner Olympiastadion die BMW 3er Reihe
vorgestellt, die als kleinere Modellreihe dem
BMW 5er folgt. Mit größtem Erfolg: Der 3er wird
zur weltweit erfolgreichsten BMW Reihe und
bis zur Jahrtausendwende ca. 7 Mio. Mal verkauft.
„Seine Stärken sind ein offenes Geheimnis“
titelt ein Plakat im Jahr 1991, und so greift man in
der Werbeabteilung erneut auf den bewährten
Röntgenblick zurück, der das Innenleben des
neuen 325i mit Vierventil-Sechszylinder-Triebwerk
offenbart.
Nothing to hide.
After five years in development, the BMW 3 Series was
unveiled at Munich’s Olympic Stadium in 1975. It
followed the BMW 5 Series as a smaller model range,
and it was a runaway success: the 3 Series was to
become the most popular BMW series worldwide, selling
approx. 7 million units up to the turn of the millennium.
“Its strengths are an open secret” ran the slogan of a
1991 poster. The advertising department again turned to
the tried and tested “X-ray view” that revealed the inner
workings of the new 325i with its 6-cylinder, 24-valve
powerplant.
