Inhaltlich vertraut BMW auch in den 1970er Jahren
auf die sportliche Ausrichtung in der Kommuni -
kation. Die technische Perfektion im Motorsport
soll das Image des Unternehmens als qualitativ
hochwertiger Autohersteller fördern. Mehr und
mehr rückt in der Werbung jedoch auch wieder der
Mensch in den Mittelpunkt. Denn um wirklich
erfolgreich zu sein, reicht technische Perfektion
nicht aus. In Anzeigen wird beispielsweise das
Zusammenspiel von Fahrer und Fahrzeug im
Motorsport thematisiert. „Es ist die Summe, die
entscheidet. Mensch und Maschine.“

BMW continued to focus on its sporting credentials in its
marketing communications in the 1970s. The idea was
that technical flawlessness in motorsport would promote
the company’s image as a maker of top-quality cars.
However, the human factor was making an ever greater
impact in advertising. Indeed, achieving real success
required more than just technical infallibility. Advertisements
shone the spotlight on the interplay of driver
and car in motorsport. “The key is to join forces. Man
and machine.”
