90 Jahre Marke BMW.
hinter diesem weltbekannten Firmenlogo,
das aus dem Markenzeichen einer der Vorgängerfirmen
und den bayerischen Landesfarben zusammengestellt
und bis heute nahezu unverändert
ist? Warum warb man in den 1950er Jahren mit
völlig unterschiedlichen Kampagnen? Wann
Kunstprojekte weltweit?
Diese und viele weitere interessante Hintergründe
aus der spannenden Geschichte der BMW Werbung
vermittelt Ihnen dieser Katalog. In diesem
ganz besonderen Blickwinkel.
Viel Vergnügen mit den Sammelobjekten wünscht
Ihnen
Advertising through the ages.
BMW – born in the midst of the First World War as a producer
of aircraft engines, today a global mobility company
employing more than 105,000 people. In between times
we have seen the growth of an eventful history with many
highs – and the odd low thrown in for good measure.
And all the while, BMW advertising has provided a record
of one defining moment after another within the com -
pany. However, these promotional materials represent far
more than just a colourful review of the past. The adverts
and posters are witnesses to the development of
the company since 1916 and offer insights into how
BMW sees itself. They paint a picture of the brand’s vast
array of products and document the changing nature of
customer marketing and sales techniques. Communications
with potential customers have always been defined
by the products and services they illustrate, of course,
and by the changing face of advertising itself.
This catalogue of collectors’ items and accessories inspired
by various aspects of BMW cars and motorcycles
takes as its theme the evolution of BMW advertising. It
offers a glimpse behind the scenes of the promotions
department over the decades. It details the history of the
world-famous logo, which combines the trademark of
one of the company’s precursors and the Bavarian state
colours (the logo remains virtually unaltered to this day).
It examines why the ad campaigns of the 1950s differed
so vastly from car to car and reveals when the worldfamous
slogan “Freude am Fahren” (“Sheer Driving
Pleasure”) was first used. And it tells the story behind the
creation of the BMW Art Cars, one of the world’s most
unusual art projects.
This catalogue showcases these and a whole host of
other intriguing snippets from the fascinating history
of BMW advertising. The “90 years of the BMW brand”
anniversary and other themes have inspired another
wave of accessories this year, all laced with interest and
aesthetic appeal. It is a great opportunity to see the
history of BMW from a rather different perspective.
We hope you enjoy our showcase of collectors’ items.
