Endbericht Evaluation des Nutzens von „Testaten“ in Nachhaltigkeitsberichten
PwC kombiniert die Betrachtung alter Empfehlungen mit der Benennung neuer
Handlungspotenziale. Sie konzentrieren sich auf inhaltlich bedeutendere Punkte als Goto
und empfehlen der Novozymes Group (2003):
„Our recommendations in our Statement in the Annual Report for 2002 36 have been addressed by
Novozymes as follows:
• Novozymes identifies stakeholders systematically and efficiently. The identification process
takes place at the business units, which report on key stakeholders and aspects to Stakeholder
Communications and the Sustainability Development Strategy Group, who coordinate
the dialogue.
• During 2003, Novozymes further integrated Environmental and Social Responsibility work into
the business by establishing the Sustainability Development Strategy Group. The Group reports
directly to the Executive Management and consists of, among others, managements of
the business units and of the companies in China, USA and Brazil.
We recommend that Novozymes:
• explain, to an increased extent, how embedding of Environmental and Social Responsibility
into the business creates value;
• assess the possibility of using a set of indicators showing the extent to which procedures and
measures communicated are implemented and observed;
• conclude the examination as to whether Novozymes may, to an increased extent, achieve
benchmarking against other enterprises.”
Schwachstellen werden manchmal in fast humoresk anmutenden Formulierungen
angedeutet. So beurteilt DNV die Datenqualität der ABB wie folgt: „Ganz allgemein werden
große Datenmengen von vielen Standorten dargelegt, an denen mehrere Hundert Personen
beteiligt sind. Die Stichproben haben gezeigt, dass eine kontinuierliche Ausrichtung auf eine
Qualitätssicherung der dargestellten Informationen erforderlich ist.“
Manchmal werden aber wirklich auch Schwachstellen deutlich. So z.B. in der Beurteilung von
Westpac 2004 durch Sue Trahair von GHD, in der es heißt: „There is considerable uncertainty
regarding the completeness of the water use data. Therefore, water use data has not
been verified for the reporting period.” Im Testat von Ernst & Young in Kooperation mit
Deloitte zum Nachhaltigkeitsbericht von SUEZ 2003 werden sachliche Unkorrektheiten der
Daten zu Wasserverbrauch, Umsatz und Arbeitsstunden deutlich gemacht.
Immerhin 33 Testate benennen Verbesserungspotenziale, die im Rahmen der Testierung
identifiziert wurden. Zu solchen Verbesserungspotenziale gehören typischer Weise folgende:
• Verfeinerung der Definition von „key performance indicators“,
• ausführlichere Behandlung bestimmter Bereiche,
• Setzen unternehmensweiter, anspruchsvoller Ziele,
• Systemabgrenzung: Was gehört zu Gruppe, Konzern, Einzelgesellschaft?,

against other enterprises.”
62
