Installation recommendation for frames of model: UG
for masonry
1
1. Before the installation, check whether the steel frame with the design specifications of the client corresponds to (e.g. with respect
to profiling, width and height dimensions, hinge substructures, DIN-direction etc.) and check that the angles of the frame are correct.
If this is not the case, the right or left side needs to be diagonally realigned by careful hammering.
2. Knock mortar infill openings into the masonry for back-throwing/back-pouring on the opposite side to the rebate (in each case at
the height of the top hinge and if necessary also around the head section). Define the metre mark on the masonry.
3. Introduce the frame into the wall opening. Align the frame‘s metre mark with the metre mark on the masonry. Note: top edge of the
finished floor can be higher than the bottom edge of the frame. Please note floor recess marking.
4. Measure the rebate dimension width on the head section. Safeguard this measurement by means of a spacer board in the frame
centre in order to avoid the frame bending when back-filling. In order to prevent the head section from bending when working
with larger rebate dimension widths, an additional vertical spacer board for maintaining the rebate dimension height is advisable.
5. Wedge the frame together with the masonry at the four corners of the head section. Ensure equal distance between masonry
and frame.
6. Check again that the frame fits properly in place and if necessary correct.
7. Hook in quick-fit anchors and secure to masonry.
8. Introduce an earth-moist cement and mortar mix (c. 1:4) through the infill openings and completely back-fill the entire frame,
including head section. Complete back-filling with mortar can be achieved by targeted knocking on the reveal.
9. After back-filling, clean frame of any mortar remnants.
10. After the mortar has set and before putting down the screed, remove spacer rails.
Alternatively, a backfill with an approved OCF ist possible. Please refer to the manufacturer‘s recommendation and DIN.
For elements with requirements are always the specifications in the authorization observed.
11. Fitting the seal: do not fit the seal supplied with the frame until the frame‘s paint has dried. Do not use any nitro-based paints.
Pay attention to painting recommendations. When pulling in the seal, do not stretch it. Create flush mitre joints (head section
end-to-end). Only ever clean dirty seals carefully with washing up liquid.
Height-align the frame as per the metre mark and floor recess mark (frames with floor recess only) and fix in place.
2
Align the frame generally vertically and
horizontally and check by measuring the
diagonals. Check by eyeing them up that
the two edges are running parallel to one
another.
For the back-filling process, the steel frame must be braced in such a way that the bending of the
profiles that is to be expected gets absorbed and the frame rebate dimension is maintained across
the full height. In relation to back-filling materials used (mortar and additives, silicon, wall plugs,
rock wool, etc.), the manufacturer‘s instructions for working with them must be followed. They must,
however, be free of any corrosive or hygroscopic components, e.g. antifreeze or gypsum.
The spacer brackets are needed to maintain the frame rebate dimension and clear opening
measurement and should only be removed after installation (when the back-fill material has set
hard). Stop rails, spacer brackets, floor profiles etc. or such like that remain in the floor structure
should have appropriate material laid under them up to the unfinished floor and safeguarded
against bending through being stepped on or run over.
Please always observe the current standards.
