Interview with Isabelle Racamier, Managing Director
of Arlys Consulting, about advising organizations in
life sciences and real estate development.

ABOUT
After holding management
positions in France,
Switzerland, the USA and
Japan, Isabelle Racamier
came to Austria in 1998 as
General Manager of Sanofi.
In 2007 she created Urban
Living, a company specializing
in the development
of historical buildings, and
later Arlys Consulting,
advising organizations in
life sciences and real estate
development. Isabelle Racamier
lives with her two
teenage sons in Vienna.
You were Sanofi’s General Manager in
Austria for seven years. Why did you
decide to set up your own business?
I have always enjoyed working
in an entrepreneurial environment.
I grew Sanofi’s sales from ten to fifty million
Euros within five years, which was a great personal
success. Developing my own company is another
exciting challenge.
With Arlys Consulting you are focusing on
Life Sciences. What sets you apart?
As Austria is the sixth country worldwide in
terms of biotech development, it is an excellent
base for life sciences. It offers the possibility of
recruiting top researchers, as well as benefiting
from major subsidies and an excellent infrastructure
for laboratory research.
When starting my company, I learned how
beneficial it is in start-up situations to work
alongside a consultant who shares their expertise
and contacts. Starting off independently is fine –
but the right support is essential. A new venture
needs someone who knows the market and the
network, combined with technical know-how.
Arlys’ mission is to provide all the necessary support
from the planning stage to the operational
implementation.
My personal approach is to develop creative,
pragmatic solutions to ensure a successful end
result.
Why Life Sciences and Real Estate? What is
your connection to them?
Even at university, I was passionate about architecture
and business, now I can combine both.
The challenge of historical buildings in Vienna
motivated me to set up my own business in Austria.
Successfully developing a property requires
blending historical and modern elements to create
a high level of esthetics and sustainability.
These aspects need to be considered when optimizing
the property’s potential.
Many foreign organizations own historical
buildings in Vienna, which can pose a challenge
when it comes to renovating and developing
these properties. My experience in multicultural
environments and knowledge of historical buildings
allow me to provide the right support. •
