engl. ⁄ Alleged plans for a true connection
of the skiing areas of the Arlberg were talked
about for ages. And this dream, that both locals
and guests share, will now come true: Alpe
Rauz which is part of Stuben, will become the
hub between the skiing areas Zürs / Lech and
St. Christoph / St. Anton.
The plans have been approved and in summer 2016 construction
works will start! The opening of the new lifts in December 2016
is definitely happening. But what is it exactly that is being built?
First of all “Flexenbahn”, a cable car between Alpe Rauz and
Trittkopf that goes all the way to Zürs, will connect the two skiing
areas. As a result the tiresome traffic of skiing buses between the
two areas will be history. Secondly, another modern cable car will
be built from Alpe Rauz up to Stuben’s local mountain Albona.
The guests who start in Stuben will still have to use the “old”
Albona I and then ski towards Rauz, where they will be able to
cross the street with a new, broad ski bridge. On the other side the
skiing areas of St. Anton and Lech / Zürs are right at their feet –
as is the direct ascent onto Albona. The way back to Stuben will
– same as always – go through Rauztobel. The long-standing wish
for a new “Albona I” will have to wait a little while longer but it
will definitely happen, too. Now Stuben will finally move to the
“heart of the Arlberg” for all those on skis, too.
