Ein umfangreicher Erfahrungsschatz und fundierte Kenntnisse in all diesen Bereichen sind die Basis und die Stärke des Unternehmens, dessen Erfolgsgeschichte vor über 125 Jahren ihren Anfang nahm. Josef Schreyögg, seines Zeichens Kaufmann und der Großvater von Peter Schreyögg, eröffnete 1890 auf dem Kornplatz in Meran eine Spezereien- und Delikatessenhandlung mit Kolonialwaren und Kaffeesorten aus aller Welt. Das Unternehmen, zu Beginn ein Einzelhandelsgeschäft, erweiterte sein Sortiment stetig, etablierte sich schnell als Großhandel und belieferte Gastronomiebetriebe in ganz Südtirol Produrre caffè è un’arte da imparare. Josef Schreyögg, commerciante e nonno di Peter Schreyögg, nel 1890 aprì in piazza del Grano un negozio di specialità gastronomiche con generi alimentari di provenienza coloniale, tra cui spiccavano diverse varietà di caffè da tutto il mondo. All’inizio, la bottega era un negozio al dettaglio, ma grazie al costante aumento dell’assortimento esso si trasformò in un centro all’ingrosso che riforniva le strutture gastronomiche in tutto l’Alto Adige con prodotti di alta qualità, come Coffee production is a very special craft and requires much practice.
