und Techtextil
Welche innovativen Materialien stehen
heute für die Konstruktion erfolgreicher,
zukunftsfähiger Produkte und Gebäude
zur Verfügung? Antworten auf diese Frage
geben vom 16. bis 18. Juni 2009 gleich zwei
Events in Frankfurt am Main, auf denen
der Status quo im Bereich der Materialentwicklung
und -anwendung präsentiert
wird. Auf der Material Vision stellen führende
Unternehmen der Werkstoffindus -
trie ihre Innovationen vor. Sie suchen den
Kontak t zu Produktentwicklern, Designern
und Architekte n, um gemeinsam die Anwendungspotenziale
neuer Materialien
zu erschließen. Parallel dazu präsentieren
auf der Techtextil über 1000 Aussteller
technische Textilien und Technologien
mit ihren nahezu unbegrenzten Einsatzmöglichkeiten.

für die Anwendungsbereiche Buildtech
(Innovationen in Architektur und
Bau), Hometech (Entwicklungen für Wohnräume
und Möbel) sowie Mobiltech (Textilien

Corian erleben –
in Levetes Lounge
Zur Mailänder Designwoche Ende April
eröffnete DuPont in der norditalienischen
Metropole die Ausstellung „Corian supersurfaces“.
Aus Corian, dem vielseitig verwendbaren
Werkstoff des traditionsreichen
Chemiekonzerns, kreierte die Londoner Architektin
und Designerin Amanda Levete
eine Neuinterpretation der Lounge als
Ort eines dynamischen Wechsels zwischen
Corian super-surfaces
Aktivitä t und Passivität. Die Installation
soll die besonderen Materialeigenschaften
von Corian auf vielfältige Weise erlebbar
machen. Die Kombination von digitalen
Gestaltungstechnologien mit innovativen
Verarbeitungstechniken und faszinieren den
Lichteffekten verdeutlicht auch, wie das
Oberflächenmaterial die Wahrnehmung
von Raum und Form beeinflusst.
Experience Corian – in Levete’s Lounge. In
time for the Milan Design Week at the end
of April, DuPont has opened the exhibition
“Corian super-surfaces” in the northern
Italia n city. Using Corian, the versatile material
produced by the traditional chemical
company, the London-based architect and
designer Amanda Levete has created a reinterpretation
of the lounge as the location
of a dynamic alternation between activity
and passivity. The installation is designed
to enable visitors to experience the special
properties of the material Corian in diverse
ways. The combination of digital design technologies
with innovative production techniques
and fascinating lighting effects also
clearly shows how the surfacing material
influences perception of space and form.

Materialarchiv
Das Gewerbemuseum Winterthur hat seine
seit 2001 bestehende Materialmustersammlung
umfassend aktualisiert und seit Anfang
April als permanente Muster- und Schausammlung
öffentlich zugänglich gemacht.
Vollkommen neu ist das im Verbund mit
anderen Materialarchiven bereitgestellte
kostenlose Angebot der Online-Datenbank,
die einen leichten Zugang zu Materialwissen
und Werkstoffen bietet und in Bild
und Text eine Fülle an Informationen zur
Verfügung stellt.
New online material archive. The Gewerbemuseum
Winterthur has fully updated its
collection of material samples, which it has
been keeping since 2001, and opened it to
the public at the beginning of April as a permanent
sample collection and exhibition.
The free online database, offered in conjunction
with other material archives, is
completely new. It provides easy access
to a wealth of information on materials,
both written and pictorial.

Messeprojekt für
Materialkompetenz
Interzum
Mit dem interdisziplinären Projekt innovation
of interior bietet die vom 13. bis zum
16. Mai 2009 in Köln stattfindende Möbelzulieferermesse
interzum zum ersten Mal
ein Event, das Architekten und Designern
einen exklusiven Blick auf neueste Materialentwicklungen
und Anwendungsmöglichkeiten
gestattet. Speziell zugeschnittene
Präsentationen widmen sich den Themenschwerpunkten
„Licht“, „Mobile Materialien“,
„Leichtbau“ sowie „Gesellschaftliche
Veränderungen“.

interdisciplinar y project innovation of interior,
the furniture supplier fair interzum,
which will take place in Cologne from May
13 – 16, 2009, is for the first time offering
an event that allows architects and designers
an exclu sive look at the latest developments
