Footnotes to the table:<br />

a Where a substance falls into more than one category, the lower ELV applies.<br />

b The mass flow is calculated in kg/h for the raw gas and is determined at the point before any<br />

gas cleaning or abatement plant, but after any devices inherent in the process (e.g. after reactor<br />

overhead condensers or after product cyclones). Mass flow is the maximum emission which can<br />

occur over any one hour period of plant operation, from the entire site. Where the mass flow<br />

exceeds the mass threshold, then abatement will be required down to the appropriate ELV,<br />

unless the concentration of the raw gas is already below the ELV, in which case no further<br />

abatement is required.<br />

c Where organic substances of several classes are present, in addition to the above limit, the<br />

sum of classes I and II shall not exceed the class II limit and the sum of classes I, II and III shall<br />

not exceed the class III limit.<br />
