Crutzen Isotopenbestimmungen an atmosphärischen Spurengasen werden in zunehmendem Maße zur Untersuchung ihrer Quellen und Senken sowie zur Identifikation von chemischen Reaktionswegen eingesetzt. Im Falle von CO existieren vier seltene Isotope, 13 C, 14 C, 17 O und 18 O. Eine vollständige Analytik zur gleichzeitigen Bestimmung aller vier Isotopensignaturen wurde in dieser Arbeit entwickelt. Ausgeprägte saisonale Schwankungen der Isotopenzusammensetzung von CO wurden an Reinluftproben, die regelmäßig an unterschiedlichen Stationen genommen werden, beobachtet. Die Interpretation dieser Schwankungen ist nützlich <strong>für</strong> das Verständnis <strong>des</strong> globalen CO Zyklus. Insbesondere wurden zwei bisher unbekannte Phänomene identifiziert. Die unabhängige Bestimmung von δ 17 O und δ 18 O an atmosphärischem CO zeigt eine beträchtliche massenunabhängige Fraktionierung in den Sauerstoffisotopen. Mit Hilfe von Laborexperimenten wurden die Hauptquellen dieser neuentdeckten Isotopensignatur identifiziert. Von großer Bedeutung ist, daß in der Senkenreaktion von CO mit OH das verbleibende CO einen Überschuß an 17 O aufbaut. Weiterhin wird massenunabhängig fraktionierter Sauerstoff von O3 bei der Ozonolyse ungesättiger Kohlenwasserstoffe auf CO übertragen. Während Episoden troposphärischen Ozonabbaus im Arktischen Frühling werden erniedrigte Werte von δ 13 C(CO) gemeinsam mit erniedrigten Ozonmischungverhältnissen beobachtet. Dies wird durch die Produktion von stark 13 C abgereichertem CO in der Reaktion von Cl mit CH4 bei erhöhten Cl Mischungsverhältnissen verursacht. Die Auswertung der δ 13 C Abweichungen ermöglicht die Quantifizierung von Cl Mischungsverhältnissen während dieser Ozonabbauereignisse, und die Ergebnisse sind in Übereinstimmung 95
