Das Weltmaterialdrängt bei ihr nicht nur zur Bearbeitung in einer Disziplin, es fächertsich vor ihrem inneren Auge auf zu Kleidern, Texten, Filmen, Installationen,Musik, Duft, zu einer synästhetischen Symphonie. Sie schafft nichtnur ein Produkt, sondern ein Universum an unterschiedlichen Produkten,die in einer geschlossenen Stimmungsharmonie erklingen.Man greift viel zu kurz, wenn man die Preisträgerin des „Petra FashionAwards 2008“ als Modedesignerin tituliert. Sie ist Architektin einer interdisziplinärenWelt, in der sich Luxus und Freiheit umarmen. Die Kleiderihres Couture-Labels „Silke Couture“ bilden den Kern ihrer Arbeit,sie sind aber ohne die anderen Elemente nicht denkbar. Couture definiertSilke Wilhelm weit über den Kleideraspekt hinaus: „Moderne Coutureumfasst für mich alles, was unsere Sinne anspricht, was mit viel Liebekreiert ist. Wenn der Mensch sich selbst gut behandelt, behandelt erauch seine Umwelt gut. Dafür steht für mich Couture.“ Mit ihrem Projekt„Coelililia“, das sie zur Fashion Week in Berlin präsentiert, bringt sieihre ganzheitliche Vision zur Aufführung.Für die Inszenierung aus Film, Musik, Installation, Catwalk und Kunstausstellunghat sie ein Team von fünfzehn Künstlern zusammengestellt.Als Regisseurin und Mitspielerin legt Silke Wilhelm Inspiration, Geschichte,Farben, Outfits vor. Die Künstler sind eingeladen, das Thema ausihrem Blickwinkel zu interpretieren. In diesem Zusammenspiel entstehtdas multiperspektivische Gesamtbild. Eine Vielzahl an Perspektiven, dasDurchbrechen des eigenen Wahrnehmungskäfigs, ist ihr wichtig. Deshalbhat sie für die Show den Titel „A Cage in Search of a Bird“ gewählt: „Wirleben alle in unserem eigenen Käfig, in unserer eigenen Realität. Aber wirkönnen den Käfig wechseln, das ist das Schöne. Ein Käfig bedeutet auch,frei zu sein. Man kann von Käfig zu Käfig seinen Blickwinkel ändern.“Artists have it pretty good. Silke Wilhelm has it evenbetter. Her world of material doesn’t just fuel creative impulses in onediscipline, it manifests as a synesthetic symphony of clothing, text, film,installations, music, and scents. Her creativity doesn’t limit itself to justone product, but rather a universe of different products that come togetherin perfect harmony.It falls short to simply call the winner of the 2008 “Petra Fashion Awards”a fashion designer. This is what couture means to me.” With her project,“Coelililia”, being presented in Berlin for Fashion Week, Wilhelm is turningher holistic vision into reality and putting it on stage.For the production, which ties together film, music, installation, catwalk,and artwork, Wilhelm assembled a team of fifteen artists. Acting as bothdirector and cast member, she provided everything from inspiration andstory to colours and outfits. The artists were invited to interpret the themeas they saw fit. This interplay weaves together fifteen different creativeperspectives into one united whole. A multitude of perspectives, a breakfrom the cage of our own perceptions, is important to her. That’s why shechose “A Cage in Search of a Bird” as the title for her creation: “We all livein our own version of a cage, in our own individual reality. But thewonderful thing is that we can change this cage. A cage can also meanfreedom. Moving from cage to cage can mean changing points of view.”Teamwork was already in play when it came to the designing of the fabric,for which she enlisted Japanese painter Yuki Itoda. For the photographiccomponent, she invited two different artists: “I deliberately brought togetherphotographers from two different generations. Sammy Hart isapproaching his fifties, experienced, and very successful; Lars Weber isonly in his early twenties. I wanted to look beyond generational divisionsto see how the two would interpret things differently.” The poetic powerthis cooperation can result in when it comes to the Coeli Lilia, Tigerlily,was evidenced by her show in Paris: “The pictures there were not hangingon the wall; there were series of images flying throughout the room, interwovenwith the models and the music, all of it ending up in the river.”What a prospect for Berlin!
