Lustige Musik spielt, künstlicheBäche plätschern vor sich hin, Spielzeugautos in Form vonbekannten japan-ischen Mangafiguren rufen mit quietschigenStimme nach nach den nicht vorhandenen Kindern. DieAtmosphäre in diesem Park ist alles andere als vergnüglich.Einbeklemmendes Gefühl entsteht, das durch den ständigen Windund die Krähen, die die einzigen hier sichtbaren Lebewesen sind,noch verstärkt wird.In dem Video wird mit einer langsamen Abfolge von Bilderngearbeitet, die meist fast Standbilder sind. Selten gibt es Sequenzenin denen Bewegung die Bewegungslosigkeit und Stille, die sonstherrscht, unterbricht und damit noch deutlicher macht. An oppressive feeling arises, which is enforced by theconstant wind and the crows that are the only living creaturesat this place.The video consists of a slow succession of images that areoften almost still images. From time to time mechanic motioninterrupts the silence that becomes through this even moreperceptible. The images are rigid in their composition andthe theme of lattice bars and grids recurs again and again.„Sumaurakoen“ est le nom d’un vieux parc d’attraction pourles enfants à Sumaura au Japon. Déserté de tous, il continuepourtant de fonctionner. Sur une musique joyeuse mêlée augazouillement des ruisseaux artificiels, des personnages demanga japonais transformés en voitures jouets appellent deleurs cris aigus des enfants absents. Néanmoins l’ambiancedans ce parc est loin d‘être amusante. Un sentimentoppressant se fait jour, intensifié par le vent fort et incessant.La vidéo se constitue d’une lente suite d‘images, presquedes images fixes. Ce n’est que rarement que le mouvementcasse l’akynésie, ne la rendant que plus évidente. Dans laraideur de ces images, l’espace apparait de plus en plusquadrillé alors que les grilles et les barreaux se multiplient.6263
