„We make the invisible seen!“ is the motto of KÖNIGSSTUHL Visitors’ Centre. And indeed,
one may learn about all facets of the national park on 2000sqm exhibition space.
An individual audio-guide system takes them on an interactive journey through time.
Visitors experience Jasmund flora and fauna from ancient times to the present. Mimi
and Krax, the national park’s mascots, accompany children. Whenever it gets exciting
for the little ones, the mouse and her friend, the raven are also at the spot, as in the
national park’s theatre, on the open-air stage or at the explorers’ tent. In the multi-vision
cinema one watches the scenery from an eagle’s perspective. Being around 3100ha
large, Jasmund national park is the smallest one in Germany. “To allow nature being
natural” is the motto here, which is why rare plants and birds are protected. The beech
groves may also grow undisturbed into the sky. Jasmund national park is the home for
a unique piece of untouched scenery. It is so prominent that it was declared UNESCO
world natural heritage in 2011. The “Ancient Beech Forests” of Jasmund belong to the
last unspoilt European woods and are counted among the massively threatened habitats
worldwide. In its community rare moors and many threatened plants may develop.
The national park conceived many new offers to make the beech forests an experience
