Flue Gas CleaningSaturated or moist flue gasesWet ESP systems are employed as horizontal or tube filters, for instance for cleaningdamp / saturated process exhaust gases from the chemical and steel industries, gasescontaining SO 2 e.g. for the production of sulphuric acid, TiO 2 -containing gases from calcinationor also waste gases from hazardous waste incineration plants. The physical principle corresponds to that of the dry electrostatic filter, however without therapper systems for dedusting, since the dust particles are discharged as a suspension. Underthe influence of the electrical field, a fluid film permeated with dust particles forms on the collectingelectrodes, which continuously flows off.In order to avoid sludge deposits on the collecting electrodes, especially from exhaust gaseswith higher solids content, an additional system using continuously operating mist nozzles isfrequently employed to reinforce the gas saturation. These mist nozzles strengthen the fluidfilm on the electrodes and reduce the solid concentration, which improves the dedusting effectby the flushing nozzles which operate in intervals.Tube filters, as depicted here, are preferred for use as corrosion-proof filters. They consist ofvertical tubes arranged in parallel with a circular or honeycomb-shaped cross-section, withthe spray electrodes each hanging in the middle. The tubes consist of non-conducting materials whose surfaces solely provide the carrier functionfor the fluid film, where the flow transport and thus the dust precipitation takes place.RöhrenfilteranlageTube filter system1 ElektrodeElectrode2 RöhreTube2Flue Gas Cleaning 13
