Life wouldn’t be the same without
Austrian foods!
This country is known around the world for its culinary specialities.
And it’s no coincidence that, according to market
and opinion research, Austrian citizens themselves associate
their country with beautiful landscapes, culture and history,
and also culinary delights. Natives are especially proud of
substantial traditional dishes such as wiener schnitzel and
“typically Austrian foods” in general, and milk, beer and
sweets in particular.
Wine is especially important in this context: 81.2% of the
population is convinced that Austrian wines are held in
high esteem abroad as well. In other countries, Austrian
foods have earned an excellent reputation, and the development
of the volume of exports over the past few years has
been excellent. Part of the reason for this is the country’s
accession to EU membership. The added value of exports,
relatively low in the past, has improved considerably, as has
unit value.
Growth of added value in the production of foodstuffs
has been stronger than the industrial average. Examples of
large Austrian companies in the agricultural and food economy
are Brau Union, Agrana, Red Bull, Berglandmilch, Vivatis
Holding (which includes Inzersdorfer, Landhof, Maresi,
etc.), Kraft Food, Pfanner, Rauch, Manner, S. Spitz, Darbo,
Wiesbauer, Schirnhofer and the meat-processing companies
Großfurtner, Marcher and Radatz. There is also a large number
of innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
that repeatedly attract a great deal of attention at international
markets and trade fairs such as Anuga, the world’s
largest trade fair for foodstuffs, which is held biannually in
Cologne, Germany; the Cheese Olympics, etc. by winning
awards and gold medals.
In the fi eld of organic products, as for exports in general,
Austria is considered a European champion. The meat/processed
meats, grain/baked goods and milk/milk products
groups have undergone the most growth of all.
Last, but not least, Austria has built a reputation for itself
as a land of gastronomic stars and toques. The spectrum of
quality restaurant food ranks highly, and the country can
also boast of an enormous wealth of high-quality regional
specialities.
Our advice: chew on these facts for a while! ❚
AUSTRIAEXPORT
Nichts geht ohne AustroLebensMittel!
Für ihre kulinarischen Spezialitäten ist die Alpenrepublik
weltweit bekannt.
Ganz be son ders
„hochwertigen“ Namen gemacht. Die Breite der hochwertigen
Gastronomie ist international beachtlich, und Österreich
punktet mit einer enormen Vielfalt an hochwertigen
regionalen Spezialitäten.
Unser Tipp: Lassen Sie sich diese Fakten im wahrsten
Sinne des Wortes auf der Zunge zergehen! ❚
