ENGLISHUSER MANUALENGINE AIR FILTER CHECK/CLEANINGCAUTION!Running the engine without air filters, or withdamaged filters, can cause a faster enginewearing.1. Drive the machine on a level ground and engage theparking brake.2. Turn the ignition key (61) to “0”.3. Open the engine compartment hood (18) with the handle(41) and fasten it with the support rod (53).4. Lift and disassemble the right side bulkhead (45).5. Remove the wing nut (A, Fig. 20) and remove the cover(B).6. Remove the wing nut (C) and disassemble the filterelement.7. Separate the foam filter (D) from the paper filter (E).8. Check both filters and replace them if necessary. Replacethe paper filter (E) when required (see the scheduledmaintenance table).9. To use again the filters, clean them as shown below:• Paper filter (E): Hit the filter several times against ahard surface to remove the dust, or blow compressedair (no more than 207 kPa (2.1 kgf/cm)) from inside thefilter. Do not use a brush, otherwise the fibre will bedamaged.• Foam filter (D): Clean with warm water and soap, rinseand let it dry completely, or clean with a non-flammablesolvent and let it dry. Soak the filter in clean engine oil,then squeeze it to remove the surplus oil.10. Clean with a wet cloth the base (F) and the cover (B) of theair filter. Pay attention to avoid that dirt enters the air duct(G) to the carburettor.11. Assemble the foam filter (D) on the paper filter (E), thenassemble the filter element. Ensure that the gasket (H) isproperly placed under the filter element. Screw down thefilter element wing nut (C).12.
