8.2.1.4 Periodical working "Mixing dryer" (Kurztechniken C.)
Description
Periodically operated paddle (mixing) dryers, continuous dryers with and without addition
of fat, suspension dryers, disk dryers and grinder-dryers In the case of mixing dryers that
are constructed for filling volumes of 1 to 15 mg, the drying time is 2.5 to 3.5 h. They re-
semble stirring device apparatuses during sterilisation in terms of their construction. For
the purpose of continuous drying, double-wall cylinders with a built-in stirring device are
utilised, the shaft of which is also heated. The material is removed from the end of the
dryer with the aid of a conveyor spiral.
Economics
Processing performance is at 2 to 4 mg/h, with a dwell time of approx. 45 min.
