Due to the large harassment potential, new plants are constructed mainly in outskirts as
privileged building projects. As a rule, protection distances of at least 1000 m from resi-
dential areas are kept. The reference noise levels of 60 dB(A) during the day and 45
dB(A) during the night can normally be kept without particular noise reducing measures. In
plants with low distance to residential areas, noise emissions can occur which reach not
inconsiderable levels.
