The following table serves as an overview over the economic position of slaughter-
houses in Germany. The data in regard to the total number of companies which deviate
from those in Table 1-2 results from the data source: whereas Table 1-2 comprises all
companies which have an EU license, here only companies with more than 20 employees
are compiled.

1.3.2 Animal by-products
In the year 2000, the carcass disposal plants and special plants operating in Germany
disposed of a total of approx. 2,7 million tonnes of raw material in a non-hazardous way.
The following table lists the number of utilisation companies in Germany and the raw ma-
terial amounts processed there.
