In respect to the overall number of companies, however, the number of industrial slaughterhouses with more than 50.000 t SW (slaughtering weight). The average slaughtering capacity of all companies in 1993 amounted to 11.400 t SW; that is an average slaughtering of 12.800 cattle and 83.000 pigs per company. More recent numbers from the Federal Association of dispatch slaugh- terhouses are not available, but one can assume that the numbers for the year 2000 have dropped slightly in comparison to 1993. The data are listed in Table 1-1.
