How to design a stained glass object
Task 1): You are the expert. You know which steps have to be taken to sketch a design for a stained glass object.
As you know, we have a lot of journeyman's pieces of former students at our college. The headmaster has decided
to print a catalogue of these objects with explanations to hand it over to foreign visitors on the regular day of open
house in November. Please write an appropriate text and describe how to sketch a specific design, which
pencils and materials to use, and which drawing techniques to apply. Choose one of the objects and put your text
into the Glass Classroom.
Task 2): Visit this online web tutorial in doing a design for stained glass patterns. Describe the way of transferring
a photograph into a design for a stained glass. Put your text into the Glass Classroom
Write your own text on glass
Take a look at this video: The young glass artist Linda is begged to write a text on her journeyman's piece for the
London Glass Museum. Listen carefully to the dialogue, write the text she is asked for, and put it into the Glass
Classroom.
Sarah: Hello, it's nice to meet you. I am Sarah Jones from the London Glassmuseum.
Linda: Hello, nice to meet you too. I am Linda de Molt.
Sarah: Well, as you know, we have choosen your journeyman's piece for our next exhibi-tion. Right now we are
planning the catalo-gue. Could you please write a short descrip-tion of your glass piece for this catalogue?
Linda: Sure, I'd be happy to do that. How long should the text be?
Sarah: Round about one page - but type it, please.
Linda: O.K. You'll get the text as soon as possible.
Sarah: Fine. Thank you. Bye then.
Linda: Good bye.
